This rumour makes sense. Even Friedman said the player that Hughes talked about at the TDL presser was Knies. This is a hefty price, but one I would have been willing to give up for Knies. Too bad it didn't happen and that Toronto moved on from Trev because this would've been an excellent trade for Montreal

Idk about that price tag but Gorton has talked about getting a play driving winger before. So that lines up.

I think if they can't find a good 2C they really like, they will pivot and go this route. Get the play driving winger and revisit the center position later on when better options are around

I also like Knies the player but don't belive he is this "unicorn" ( im growing to hate that term more than people that say straw man to often) player leafs fans have built him up to be. That being said if I were the leafs he'd be the last person on my list of guys to trade given age/contract etc.

Confusing situation with knies. Just don't see why he'd be on the block at all short of the already mentioned poor leadership that is trying to be righted.
