Value of: Pageau at this trade deadline

Will take cap dumps, If it means higher picks or NHL ready\close to jump in prospects. Nelson, Pageau, Palmieri would be all solid adds for a playoff team. And so would Pulock, Pelech & Mayfield, but all these ntc's\nmc's will fk us over badly in deals. Not expecting anything.

Not with multiple years left we won’t.

I’d be shocked if a team gives up a first for Pageau. His offense had falling off a cliff. He’s great at faceoffs, playing defensively, and killing penalties but to get a first you usually have to have good enough offensive numbers with that type of bottom 6 player. Only having another year left on his deal isn’t enough to justify the first either.

As much as I agree about his value not being a 1st, his offense this year is on pace to be the same as every year since the outlier year....and I am just as surprised as you are reading this as I was writing it.

Is he worth more at this deadline with a year left on his contract or as a rental next deadline? - Assuming his play stays consistent.

Pageau is no longer a center - he's a winger who can take faceoffs. Also, he's not a top penalty killer anymore. He is overmatched defending down low. He's regained a bit of his scoring touch that he lost from the wrist injury. But he's just not the buzz saw battler he used to be. He's overmatched in puck battles, and can get pushed around pretty easily.

My thought is that nobody will take him without retention, and nobody is going to pay the asset of cost of salary retention. That's why I don't see him moving.

(BTW I am a NYI fan, and I was a big fan of his game prior to his wrist injury.)

And let's not overlook the team that Pageau plays for. The Isles are bottom 5 in goals scored. He'd certainly be performing better offensively on almost any other team in the league (if given the chance to be traded to one by Kim Jong Lou).

Habs fan here.

I'd like the Habs to trade for him.

He'd be a super replacement for Evans, if the latter is traded.

A heart and soul RHC, great at doing "all the small things", local guy, yep, I like that...

A 2nd and a c prospect (Trudeau, Mesar, Tuch, smtg like that) would be my offer.

Will be interesting to see where the following guys end up as they are all similar in use situations in the league as 3rd /4th line centres.

Pageu
Evans
Kunin
