Pack your $#!@ and get out!

I actually really like the Bolland-Clarkson combo. Obviously Clarksons about 1.5 mil overpaid but that happens with UFAs in there prime.

Dion doesnt have to go but for the right package sure.

Franson is the easy answer, guy is straight up slow and for a slow guy he chases a ton.

Kessel,
Phaneuf,
Franson,
Bozak,
Lupul,

people that are givens:
raymond,
clarkson,
kulemin,

tear this piece of @*#^ down and build it back up. might take a bit but would be way better than this crap we have now.

45 points on a $1mil contract, lmao.

You take Bolland and Clarkson and you have the money we will need to sign Steven Stamkos. Bolland is actually an ok player, nothing special and not worth $5 million. Clarkson is garbage.

Clarkson, and Franson. The Dion problem is over the top. Bring some top 4 guys, decrease his minutes and he's a very effective player.

Franson was the clear worst problem on defence.'

Clarkson was a huge problem for the forwards(hopefully gets better because we cant do anything with his contract).

Really happy Mason "no emotion" Raymond is leaving, guy disappears in big situations(unlike MacArthur who he replaced). He was basically a stat-pumper

Wouldnt care that much if Phaneuf goes, he's shown that he isnt good under pressure(tends to crack, has done poorly in big games) but is a top pairing d-man when the pressures off. Gotta wait for the right package but I personally think it's time to move on from him this season.

Everyone else probably deserves another shot, just replace some UFA's with Marlies/new UFA's.

You'll find that players in general play better when the pressure's off. However, there's pressure in every game. Just another example of how the "problem" with Dion is blown out of proportion in Bipolar Nation.

The player that will give us the best return in comparison to his impact on the roster. That's the only thing that matters.

Can't believe people think this actually has even a slight chance of happening.

Just one?

McLaren and Orr should not be on the team but relative to roles/minutes, the answer is easily Franson for me.

Everyone. Ship out everybody. All the draft picks!

Dion-Phaneuf-in-Redbull-cap.jpg

everyday we are one day closer to draft day and Gary Bettman rising to the podium to say: "We have a trade to announce, the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded Dion Phaneuf ..."

I think you're going to be disappointed my friend.

The Leafs still sound like they want to try to make the playoffs next year. Tough to imagine a scenario where they trade Phaneuf and come out of it a better team next year.

Clarkson's prime was 3 years ago.

Why does everyone keep saying Raymond 45 points on a 1 million dollar contract?
That was excellent for 2013/14 but its not like he's signed at 1 million for the next 4 years. Technically he is out already, he is a UFA that nobody wanted, took a million dollars to find his 3+ million dollar payday. Probably get a similar deal to Clarke MacArthur. Now thats not bad but he is more of the soft, weak puck battling forward we have plenty of. If you want to ditch Lupul at 5.25 and replace him with Raymond at 3 million, I guess thats a consideration.

Lupul and Franson
And I like Lupul, just don't like the contract and injury history

Clarkson - even if he does get his game back, he's not worth the $$

Kessel

would represent the change in direction and culture I'm hoping for and would be a significant shift/return

biggest first domino

Guys I want gone the most in descending order

- Clarktard (Worst contract in NHL history, little faith that he will even break 20, let alone 30 or 40 pts as some are suggesting. Oh, and has the worst false narrative in the world of somehow being a playoff performer despite having a paltry 14 pts in 44 career playoff games)
- Phaneuf (Good player, but overpaid like hell and a cancer in the locker room. Disliked by everyone, and he's somehow expected to be taken seriously as captain. Pffft. Oh, and chokes when it matters most. Still has goid value in a trade, but not for much longer, I suspect).
- Franson (Near Lebda/Komisarek/Berg level bad defensively)
- Reimer (Getting blinded by a laser pointer... oh wait, that's just the red light behind Reimer)
- Orr, McLaren (USELESS!!!)
- Raymond, Bolland, Kulemin (Will ask too much on upcoming contract)
- Lupul (I like him, but he is still too much of an injury risk and is overpaid. Oh, and if he doesn't get hurt as often, that means he's floating).

I would get rid of:

Franson
Raymond
Lupul
Gleason
Clarkson

Trade for fair value:
Phaneuf
Bozak
Kessel

If we are tanking for McDavid I would hold on to Reimer and split starts 50/50. It might become clear early next season that we will be in the McDavid lottery. This team has quit on Carlyle

Or Phaneuf which would also see the captaincy change as well

When Leiweke and Shanny are talking about identity change and face of the franchise and culture change it would have to be a big personality or top player to have any real effect.

depending on the return for Phanuef (I.e if he can get you in to the top 3) that would be great too

I'm just not a Kessel fan and that would be my Pack your $#!@ and get out! I'd be most excited about and what it would represent

Why Kessel he is the only player that showed he really cared. and is one of the best players in the game. Trading Kessel dosen't change the culture it puts us last in the nhl.

I'm not disagreeing with your choice, and if Kessel was sent packing this summer I would be very pleased.

There is a real opportunity here to undo the past and start fresh in a new direction.

Only way I'd trade Kessel is if we got a huge return and we could tank for McDavid/Eichel next tear and get our franchise player. Something around Jones + Josi ++ from Nashville (who has always wanted Kessel) maybe. Gives us a great core to build around on the back end and a great chance at a franchise C in the upcoming draft. We already have our goalie of the future in Bernier. You can get rid of Phaneuf too for some good C prospects, and now you have a back end of:

Rielly - Jones
Gardiner - Josi
Gunnarsson - Granberg

Bernier

That'll be amazing in 3 years. Reduces the GA well below the magic number of 200, I'd imagine.

Can't believe people think this actually has even a slight chance of happening.

What we should do is keep 10-12 m available on the off chance Crosby becomes available...
