I'm not against moving Pacioretty, but Granlund doesn't do it for me.
Pacioretty +
for
Coyle, Niederreiter, Scandella
is something I could get behind
Of course you would, because it's massively one-sided in MTL's favor.
NO.NO. NO!

IMO - I think the 2nd moves to a 1st and Scherback moves to McCarron or Juulsen and Minny has to consider it.
Pacioretty & 1st in 2017 for Scandella, Granlund & Niederriter
Helps with Minny's Expansion "problems" and they get very good contract with term while Granlund & Niederriter are RFA at the end of 2017.
Montreal fills out their Top 6 and moves Plekanec into 3C.
Radulov - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Niederriter - Granlund - Shaw
From MN, would still do..without hesitation
What a stupid thing to state a year out.
So, Let me get this straight
MIN fans think they can get Patch whitout giving anything of their 'Untouchable' list, giving away only players that are avalaible? Not happening. You have to give to get and that offer there for 2nd liners and 2nd pairind Ds is not something Habs management will consider. Patch would instantely become MIN best forward.
Coyle + Scandella/Spurgeron + Nino, otherwhise not interested.
No way MTL ever do that.
a) You're trading the captain of the team, signed to a pretty good contract, our 1st line LW who can flirt with the 40-goals mark for two second liner.
b) This move would prevent us from protecting guys like Danault and Hudon, so you would have to factor one of the two in that trade. Scandella would probably have to be left unprotected as well.
c) Plekanec is fine at 2C.
So basically, Minnesota "solves" their expansion problems, but put Montreal in an expansion nightmare...and they have to pay their best forward AND a 1st, a year after finishing 21st in the league, to do so ? Then gets 'stuck' with both Emelin and Scandella's contract (assuming he doesn't get claim) + two RFA looking for substancial raises, making it very unlikely we could re-sign Radulov, bringing us back to where we were pre-trade.
Yeah, no thanks.
And a firm NO way from MN also. Poor trading partners.
Absolutely not.
Minnesota has already stated they are going the 7F 3D 1G route.
Don't get us wrong, we'd love him on our team but we need to spend our assets on getting a 1st line center or right wing. Think Galchenyuk or the like.I tend to agree. Minny doesn't seem to need Pacioretty anyway.
This is like the 3rd or 4th time I have seen a Wild fan say this. Let's just clear this up now, the Wild have not and would not ever make such a claim at this point in time. Use a little common sense here, why would they even consider making such a statement?

I know you listen to Russo... He's stated it in the podcasts.
You can't honestly believe that Fletcher has told Russo that they plan on doing either the 8/1 or 7/3/1?
You believe whatever you want. They will use the 7F 3D 1G strategy. It protects more players. Now if a trade happens where we send dman+forward for better forward then things might change.
4F: Parise, Koivu, Pominville (NMC), Nino
4D: Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba
1G: Dubnyk
Exposes: Coyle, Scandella, Staal,Granlund, Haula, Zucker, Kuemper
OR
7F: Parise, Koivu, Pominville(NMC), Nino, Coyle, Granlund, Haula
3D: Suter, Spurgeon, Dumba
1G: Dubnyk
Exposes: Brodin, Scandella, Staal, Zucker, Kuemper
We need our forwards. We can lose one player and hell, Staal might be Las Vegas' pick. If Brodin or Scandella is taken then we've got Reilly and Olofsson waiting in the wings...
I'm gonna need a link of Fletcher saying the Wild will use the 7/3/1. Thanks
I'll take Russo's say over yours. Check the June 29th podcast. He's convinced the Wild will go 7/3/1. If you don't believe him that's your problem not mine.
So, you don't have a link to "Minnesota has already stated they are going the 7F 3D 1G route"? I didn't think so. And FTR, you not being able to source statements that you make as facts, is certainly not my problem.
There are a number of expansion draft rules. The Wild will protect seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender. Unless a player is willing to waive his no-move clause, no-moves must be protected.
That means, if they’re on the roster, forwards Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise and Jason Pominville will be three of the seven forwards protected and Ryan Suter one of the three defensemen.
First- and second-year pros and unsigned drafted choices are exempt.
That means up front, the Wild, barring roster changes, would be able to protect only four out of Zucker, Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter, Erik Haula, Tyler Graovac and others. On defense, it could protect only two of Jared Spurgeon, Jonas Brodin, Marco Scandella, Matt Dumba, Gustav Olofsson and others.
“The way the rules have been set up leads me to believe every team’s going to lose a good player,” Fletcher said. “It’s going to be hard to protect yourself completely. It’s most likely going to force you to expose some decent assets.”
It's simple. MTL overrates their players. Always have.
And let me get this straight; you believe Patches is worth a 2nd line RW, 2nd line LW and a #2 defenseman (Spurgeon)? LOL!!! Funny guy!
Pacioretty's value is greatly improved by his 4.5AAV x 3 contract, which is ridiculous for a player doing 30+30 on a bad year and 35+35 in a good year.
So Nino+ Granlund + Spurgeon/Scandella/Brodin/Dumba could be the offer. Spurg is our best avail D.
