Habs don't need to trade their captain and get smaller. Flames want to keep their best young player. Both likely pass but I could see Mtl being tempted.

I might do something like Gaudreau and Brouwer for Pacioretty and Galchenyuk in the hypothetical event that Gaudreau refused to sign with Calgary.

Honestly, as much as I would love Gaudreau, the habs cant acquire another smaller player. Maybe, if they acquire Gallagher and Pacs and we get Gaudreau and Hamilton i guess. But why would the flames want to get older? Makes no sense for them.

Absolutely not.

Also care to provide a source for such rumours? I think by rumour you mean "inaccurate HF narrative". Since Freidman has said both parties are working on a long-term deal.

Better contract and equally good of a player. Pacio gets underrated incredibly on HF.

Pacioretty does get underrated, but I've always thought Hall was even more underrated. He gets the blame on Edmonton despite being an incredibly productive 5v5 player. I mean he's 8th in 5v5 pts and 8th in 5v5 pts/60 over the last 3 years (Just ahead of guys like Tavares, Kessel, Pavelski).

His most productive years were just coming IMO, with McDavid allowing Hall to get easier minutes behind him but still having 1st PP time.

Just to get off topic for a moment, to respond to this.
I was looking forward to see what kind of chemistry McDavid and Hall were going to create. Another season or 2 and that pairing could have been huge in the NHL. Then, add a young stud RW and that top line explodes.
Was sorry to see Hall traded for that reason. I think he got shafted being the one traded.

As for the thread topic.
Pacioretty is a damn good LW on an amazing contract, but IMO he has been getting comfortable. His game has slowed and he isn't as physical. I think a change of scenery would wake him up and get him going again.
If the rumor of Gaudreau wanting to be closer to home are true, then this could be a possibility.
Not saying a must or a should, just a possibility.

It's off season and we need to post about something.
If you all want me to, I can start posting JVR to Montreal threads again.... :naughty:

Therrien would ruin Gaudreau & frankly I don't wanna see Gaudreau's skill go to waste in this system. It's why PK was dealt.

I'd rather just keep Pacioretty until the coach gets fired lol & watch Gaudreau dominate the west even though many people harp on his size.
