No disrespect to MaxP, but no way Buffalo does to deal in the OP. Buffalo worked hard and endured a long tank to get 4 deep at center (ROR, Eichel, Reinhart, Larsson). I doubt they trade that center spine away. Even for MaxP.

ROR isn't going anywhere.

Buffalo will happily trade Montreal Kane.

I'll agree, ROR isn't changing address and I'll decline your offer for Kane.

OReilly was traded before, so yes trade sometimes happen

When he had no term on his contract and clearly wasn't re-signing in Colorado. Buffalo's got him for 6-1/2 more seasons on a perfectly reasonable contract. He's not going anywhere.

Pacioretty
Beaulieu

Then you have to offload Plekanec or Desharnais somehow and bring up Big Mike.

Baltimore Maryland
Ryan strome anders lee and a prospect

id give up strome and a draft pick but thats about it.

the islanders dont need pacioretty, he is a left wing. the islanders need a top right wing.
garth should be trading for what he needs, not trading for what he wants. the last time he traded for no reason was the moulson/vanek fiasco.

and what does beaulieu even bring to the deal?

Not many teams have what it takes to trade for Max Pacioretty. If I'm Marc Bergevin, the conversation starts with a top 4LHD and young top 6 forward, preference for a C

Pacioretty + Beaulieu versus Fowler and Rakell

or

Pacioretty + one of our C (not named Galchenyuk - McCarron, Danault, Desharnais, Plecky, Mitchell) versus Fowler and Rakell

If a team isn't willing to pay, we'll keep Patch. Simple as that

If your ask is Fowler and Rakell, then you can definitely expect to keep Pacioretty. If that's where the discussion starts, that's where it ends. You aren't getting a young forward talent like Rakell and a top pairing defenseman. That's not a realistic ask.

Bobby Ryan had four straight 30 goal seasons under his belt, and was younger when he was traded. He didn't get anything close to the kind of established talent you're asking for.

Strome and a draft pick doesn't get you a sniff at Patches.

Would buffalo accept Paccio-Beaulieu-1ST PICK 2017 for O'Reilly and Kane??

Patch > O'Reilly
Beaulieu + 1st Round pick >>> Kane

Patch is a better player than O'Reilly.

Kane is a 35 pts guy with a lot of off-ice issue at this point. In no world, is he worth a 1st round pick or Beaulieu. Beaulieu + 1st round pick for Kane is downright robbery by the sabre's GM.

Highly debatable when ROR has only 3 less points and 1 less goal, but has played 6 less games this season. ROR also plays the more important position and is better defensively.

You can't compare 2 players with just 20 games...

Since the lockout

Pacioretty has 128 goals and 248 pts in 305 games.
O'reilly has 78 goals and 214 pts in 282 games (on pace for 84 goals and 231 pts in 305 games).

The last 3 season (including this one)
Pacioretty has 74 goals and 149 pts in 188 games.
O'Rielly has 44 goals and 130 pts in 173 games.

Pacioretty has scored a ton more goals and more points than O'Rielly.
Rielly only has two seasons of 20+ goals. Pacioretty has 4 seasons of 30+ goals.
Rielly only has two seasons of 60+ pts. Pacioretty has 4 seasons of 60+ pts.

Pacioretty is an elite winger. O'Rielly is an elite 2C or a low end 1C.

Pacioretty is paid 4.5 M per year. O'Rielly is paid 7.5 M per year.

Patch is a better hockey player.
