P.K. Subban

So the show "60 minutes" just finished wrapping up an entire show on PK Subban & his family that's supposed to air in the spring.

How many NHL players have that kind of appeal? No wonder he's envied so much throughout the league, both players/fans/media

very cool

I think they will show the world that Pk Subban is Pk Subban and not Evander Kane , no offense to him

but it just always seemed like people think subban is this gigantic monster when he's like..the coolest cat in town

will be nice to see all that cleared up for the american people (unless its a smear campaign!!)

Subban is vilified for many wrong reasons. Personally I find him a little phony but he definitely wants to be a winner and he has worked hard on and off the ice to improve his game. He enjoys attention a little too much for my liking but that hardly makes him a bad person in any way.

Or Patrick Kane...Or Milan Lucic...or Tyler Seguin...or Jaime Benn...or Slava Voynov

There's a lot of Jack ***ses in the NHL

agreed.

edit : wait...whats wrong with jaime benn!!

There is nothing wrong with Benn at all. He is obviously referring to the comments that Benn and Seguin made about the Sedin's. They were clearly joking around.....people today are so self righteous with their polarized opinions on social media.

I can't stand rude/ignorant people but I think I despise the politically correct, phony cowards that are far too common today even more. Wish more people would say what they actually believe even if it is politically incorrect......atleast we would know where everyone truly stand's. Nothing more annoying than watching people pretending to be offended by things that either don't concern them or turning their back on opinions that they actually believe in fear of public ridicule. Quite often things that are politically incorrect are actually correct, hence the need to add the term "politically". Canadians are the most guilty of this behaviour as we bend over backwards not to offend people who have no respect for our right to share our heritage and customs.

I certainly respect Subban's ability to transcend stereotypes and not concern himself with the opinion of those who don't know him. He could whine and cry about things but he chooses to take challenges head on and set an example.

Doesn't matter if they were joking... Who says something like that on air these days?

It's not about what they said, it's about being professional and representing his team correctly

Sure, I get its a joke... It's just not something you say.

Having to issue an apology for that is just embarrassing for the Stars organization. They come off as two cretins. I expect this kind of talk from teenagers, not grown men. Has nothing to do with being self-righteous or politically correct.

Can you imagine if Subban had been the one to say that? It would 100 times worse

If the punchline of a joke is "they are gay! Urr urr urr" it demonstrate that you think homosexuality is a thing to laugh at.

We should trade him right after the show airs, when his value is highest! :sarcasm:

I heard Jaime Benn apologized today, so.

Of course he did. Under direct orders from Stars management, no doubt.

To the above poster talking about wishing people could say what they think, without fear of political correctness, that's fine for conversations between you and your buddies. In the real world, however, what people think of you actually matters. You are entitled to free speech, but on the same token, you have the responsibility to accept whatever repercussions that free speech might bring you.

If Benn and Seguin want to make jokes in the locker room about the sedins being incestuous homosexuals, they need only deal with the opinions of their teammates. If they're going to make those same comments on a public radio program, they better be prepared to deal with immediate vilification. That type of "joke" is not suitable for polite conversation, or any type of conversation at all.

Sometimes, you have to consider your audience, and then consider keeping your opinions to yourself.

He's back to being one of the best defenders in the game again, I couldn't care less about other people being butt-hurt about Subban's character/personality.

I don't think the joke had to do with them being incestuous homesexuals. I think it's due to the fact that they do everything together because you know... they're twins. I think the radio host was the one who is at fault saying they look weird and ****. Doesn't excuse them but I don't think that's what Benn was implying.

It's not the show "60 minutes", it's something way less famous called " 60 minutes sports show".

Still pretty cool though!

Yep. Wouldn't trade him straight up for any other d-man right now.

I wouldn't trade him for any player heads up to be honest. Not because I think he's the best in the NHL, I don't, but more so because it would create a huge hole on defense that we really wouldn't be able to void.

I think he's currently the best in the NHL maybe Giordano slightly ahead of him this season but that's it.

Would that happen to be PK he's talking about in practice..LOL

From an HF thread while ago, many folks who've encountered Jamie Benn in his hometown of Victoria BC mentioned how he's an *******. Tyler Seguin is already a well-established *********. I'm not surprised by any of this really.

He's been playing great recently, getting tons of minutes. Definitely looks like this guy is more concerned about the second half of the season (and POs, obviously). Expecting another monster run in the post-season. And yes, I'll use that annoying 'S Bah' smilie.

On that note, I really don't like the shock radio style south of the border.

I get the feeling that these Dallas radio guys were almost prodding Benn and seguin to get a dumb comment out of them.

Im not totally excusing the dallas players for what they said, but the radio culture down in the states is grating to me, given from what I hear out of syndicated sports shows, and clips I've heard out of a local Boston station.
