Well the Jets have a few bigger LD like Stanley or Samberg that woukd fit that. Neither is a proven top 4 dmen yet but it's not like Tippet is a proven top 6 player yet either.

It would be young physical D with some room to grow for a young winger with room to grow.
I wouldn’t move Samberg, but Stanley… yeah

Giordano will be the top rental defenseman at the deadline.

I don't think that's true at all.

Giordano is 38-years old and in the midst of a mediocre, at best season and coming off a mediocre, at best season the year before.

Contenders looking to shore up their blue line not only have better options than Giordano, but they have *many* options that are better.

He'll fetch a 1st pretty easily if they retain
retention on a 1 year deal is pretty irrelevant unless the team acquiring him is pressed against the cap. even then, it doesn't increase player value that much.
No…a proven top 9 playoff performer. It would just be the basis of a deal.

I could see a Pearson+Rathbone for Tippett+4th
He's an average at best 3rd line winger with 2 years at 3.25 aav left on his deal. The Panthers have guys sitting in the press box and in the AHL that can match Pearson's numbers at less than 1 million AAV. Hell, Tippett himself is having a better year. Would be a really dumb trade for the Panthers.
