Owen Sound Attack 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

That is an intriguing situation. Not a player I'd be keen on moving but for the right offer... Depends on how they feel about the younger guys behind him and it would open up playing time for a player who may be here in 26/27 when the team projects to be a contender.
I think he is a true keeper / huge benefit to have as an over age candidate on this roster but agree it’ll be tricky to navigate the proposal. Good OA’s are a premium to have now that the league is skewing younger so I would hope it only happens for a haul of picks. I just don’t know what 05’s they bring in as replacement and from where .. hmm, I would say it’s best to keep him, I really like the player and what he brings to the table.

I think he stays personally. I think you'd need to feel confident in somebody else to step in and serve as the PP QB. Maybe a deadline deal depending on how the season starts.

Just messing....obviously until there is some kind of official announcement names should not be published....player in question should help the Attack for a couple of years

Think DD added a very nice piece in the deal with the Battalion.

Add a little more sandpaper to the lineup without having to re-teach this addition the system can sometimes be a blessing. In the limited viewing I saw in the pre-season of Therrien I remember saying in my head "This Therrien kid is a real pest out there".

Where Therrien may not be the size height wise being only '5"8 he doesn't shy away from the physical play as a crash and havoc type player who from what I was able dig up Google searching Therrien's name. He finishes his checks and can get under players skin every shift at least from the limited times I've seen him play in the Battalion Green when they came to the Bayshore.

Good add by DD meeting what coach Wray stated when hired last fall "Getting back to that Owen Sound Attack style of hockey", "Making the Bayshore a tough place to play".

Love this trade, good price for a guy who could end up being a quality OA for 26-27.

This trade has real Andrew Shaw vibes to it especially if he can reign in some of the careless penalties.

We also shouldn't discount the scoring boost he provides to the team. 38 points in 55 games would have put him fourth on the Attack in scoring last season, and if he played all 68 would've been comfortably third. For context Cormier and Tersigni combined for 43 points in 106 combined games. It's a big upgrade to our 06 group.

Your last point about this being a big upgrade to our 06 group is exactly why I think they made this deal. It's a pretty unimpressive group after Bedkowski, George and what we saw from Wray in the second half. Therrien is certainly a major upgrade on Cormier and Tersigni and I would think slots in pretty nicely with Bedkowski and Wray as OAs in 26/27 season. The price point feels pretty reasonable too. At the very least, it's a fairly substantive boost to our secondary offense based on guys returning from last year's team.

Another excellent trade by Owen Sound. I’ve always liked Jake Therrien’s game. He’s annoying as hell to play against, chippy and physical. Undersized but very solid on his skates with the ability to take a hit or dish one out. The type you despise as an opponent but love having on your own team.

The great value here is that Owen Sound will almost certainly have him for two years. Which will be impotent for next year because there’s a definite possibility that George and/or Bedkowski could be playing in the AHL rather than returning as OAs.

The scoring boost will be substantial. A lot of our powerplay scoring came from JT. He spent a lot of the year on our first line with Procyszyn but they’re two completely different players and the styles didn’t mesh. If you put him with a speedy center, I can see him being a PPG player pretty easily

Have seen him lay out the biggest guys on the ice. If you’re a 6’6” goon he will chase you all game and make it his mission to nail you. He can get absolutely steamrolled, get back up and throw a hard hit. He fought our biggest defenceman (Ride 6’7”) in a training camp scrimmage last year just to get everyone fired up. When we lost to Oshawa in the conference finals, he was on the ice bawling. Puts his heart into the game and leaves it all out there. Youre going to like him lol, just needs to cool his temper and chill with the diving. Not drafted so will make a great OA candidate.

Thats IF there are OAs in 26-27

Several teams in the western conference appear to be setting their rosters up for 2026-27 when the OHL will have two representatives in the Memorial Cup.
With George among 7-‘06s and 2-OAs all selected by round 3 of the OHL priority draft on the roster already, DeGray might be planning to give his team a shot this coming season.

Yep that type of player at junior level obviously doesn’t mean anything about the next step but I could see him being a 25-35G and 50-65pt guy for you guys this coming year along with his 75-100pims
