We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.
What This Means for You:
- If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
- If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.

I don't particularly 'care' which teams we play x number of times.
Some are bigger rivalries.
Some teams we only play twice are nasty .
For the most part, I think the cross conference games are for proximity.
And cost.
agree, i was just answering his question. barrie will be average, niagara could be better if they figure it out. i dont get it either.
I’m saying I’m over playing an eastern conference team more than twice. I get location.. but those extra 4 games should be played within the conference. Those west vs west games are a lot more important.

I did a 2 week trip back in February to catch some WHL games. I remember pouring over the schedule beforehand and noticing a curious thing.
The Wenatchee Wild played a 7pm Friday night home game against Kelowna, then had a 6pm road game in Kamloops the next night (Saturday). This was followed by a Sunday afternoon game at 4pm against Vancouver…IN WENATCHEE (which they somehow won in overtime)
That is a 500+ km, 5 hour and 45 minute trip each way, mostly through winding mountains and with a border crossing to boot.
1,000+ km, 11+ hour bus trip in 42 hours, bookended between the end and start of 2 games with another game sandwiched somewhere within that timeframe.
I literally can’t find a similar time and distance comparison just within our league. This would be similar to the Barrie Colts playing, say, Oshawa on Friday night, travelling to Rouyn-Noranda for a 6pm game the next night, and then heading all the way back to Barrie for a 4pm home game the following afternoon against Kingston. If there were also 2 border crossings then you’d be pretty much be there.
Going from game to game out west, I can attest that the driving is beautiful, long and sometimes treacherous. I lucked out with splendid weather; cold but minimal to no snowfall most days. I can only imagine what travel time is like when snow and accumulation starts.
I’m sort of indifferent to the Barrie conversation; I don’t mind Attack vs Colts games but I think I’d prefer to see Saginaw play in Owen Sound more than once per year.
If arguments for rivalries and such are made to justify some imbalance in scheduling, I can get on board with that. But when travel is used as a prevailing reason for the imbalance, well, i think it’s pretty laughable when compared against the other 2 leagues. The OHL truly has it so good and it’s surprising to me that so few people recognize this. The Soo is literally as close to Owen Sound as Prince George’s second closest rival (Kelowna)
The OHL could probably have a completely balanced schedule between all 20 franchises and most teams would still be ahead of their counterparts from the WHL and Q in terms of travel.
So, really, an additional 3 hour intra-provincial trip down to Sarnia or an extra 4 hour intra-provincial trip down to Windsor should be nothing taxing or cumbersome on the players, team etc., comparatively speaking.
Last, just touching on costs, I don’t really see how costs in Ontario can be so substantially higher than elsewhere that it results in higher ticket prices and hand wringing at the thought of adding a little more travel to accommodate a more diversified schedule. Our gas prices here are lower than they are in BC and our hotel rooms seem to be on par with the rest of the country. Ticket prices in the WHL were similar to the OHL with a few places (like Victoria, surprisingly) much less. In the Q, average ticket prices are noticeably less.

Awesome that flint is playing a back up team ca Sarnia tonight yet we see a full Rangers squad lol. Teams don’t want us in the playoffs
you can’t give up that goal less then Han a minute later after making it 2-2. What was smith thinking on that play. Man oh man

I don't really blame Smith there, he had to do something. The breakdown was already in motion, Bedkowski was chasing another guy and ended up out of position.
Team wasted a gem of a performance from Koprowski, but hope they're ready because it's all to play for tomorrow. Win and they guarantee at least the tiebreaker.
Hoping we see Mbuyi break the rookie goal record tomorrow.

He hesitated and it cost us a goal.. just go get the puck behind your net. Yes we wasted an opportunity again.. our PP is brutal. The real question to me is why Zurawski didn’t play tonight… hopefully him and Dec are in the lineup tomorrow night.
DISCIPLINE —The Owen Sound Attack sat rookie Cole Zurawski for Friday night’s game. Scott Wray said the decision was made for school-related disciplinary reasons.
And this is where I go back to ‘I don’t know if people actually know what a rebuild is’
Of course an older, more experienced and skilled team are going to force our kids, who are playing in situations they wouldn’t on other teams, to make mistakes. The purpose is to put those kids in situations today so that they learn and the following years are better for it. That’s a rebuild.
There appears to be some confusion on that point I think. I thought it was amazing that they played with them all game and didn’t look outclassed, but I’m all on with the rebuild so???

Best of luck in today's game. You guys have a bright future with some young impressive players! Not sure if you'll make the playoff but if you do, your opponents will know they were in a tough series regardless of the number of games it goes.
