That' some mighty big print there.. but I agree. I was shocked that there was no instigator on that play. It was pretty obvious it should have been called
That was unbelievable actually. Hookey's Instigator was also a bad call. They both

speaking only as an Attack fan, there have been some occurrences at the Bud/ Labbatt/Life centre over the years that defy logic. Both Hookey n Cowan shoulda got an instigator. JMO which means squat.
The fact a player skates over after a clean hit (Hookey) n the player who laid the clean hit wants to defend themselves and says ok agree to fight doesnt disqualify the instigator.
Again Cowan shoulda got one also.
Actually IMO the Hookey call is what’s wrong a bit with the modern day game. A hard clean hit (clearly not a head shot) and immediately he challenges the guy laying out the hit to fight. Happens so often especially in the NHL. Either ban body checking all together or work on removing this aspect from the game. I hate it …. not trying to single out Hookey but it was a blatant example of it in my mind? That was unbelievable actually. Hookey's Instigator was also a bad call. They both

I thought they really struggled to penetrate to the middle of the ice in the Guelph end. They didn't earn those high danger opportunities which made for a pretty easy night for Gillespie. Credit to Guelph for locking it down in their own zone. Not much going tonight
I hope Bedkowski doesn't fall victim to McDermid syndrome .I thought they really struggled to penetrate to the middle of the ice in the Guelph end. On another note, hopefully Bedkowski can avoid a suspension. Really noticed his absence after the ejection. He eats so many big minutes back there for the Attack.
I hear you. Seems like the sensitivity towards head hits etc has lead to officials at times airing on the side of caution and handing out penalties for hitting too hard. There's an art to delivering the big hard open ice hits but they have to be squeaky clean or they seem to get called penalties if there's a shred of grey in there. There were a couple in the Oshawa London game last night that were delivered hard but clean so it can be done. Bedkowski being 6'5" creates a height mismatch at times so he needs to be a little bit more selective/careful with when and how to deliver those hits. It's a big part of his game and you don't want to see him shy away from it.I hope Bedkowski doesn't fall victim to McDermid syndrome .
He was a big man who played hard.
Every time he crushed anyone with a big hit the arm went up.
I'll take games like tonight over the ones where they pull one guy out of the scrum to "settle down the game". I like seeing consistency. The officiating crew had at least that much going tonight in they consistently let everything go lol. When the refs retain their whistles in their nether regions for 58 mins, 58 seconds, why bother taking names and numbers when things go sideways ?
They talked earlier about it. Was going to happen at some point.Actually IMO the Hookey call is what’s wrong a bit with the modern day game. Optics aside, the player fits with what they are trying to do in Owen Sound. High compete and big bodied centreman. He's also an 06 player which the Attack's 06 group isn't great if you're looking ahead to potential OA seasons. Very likely another move to come as I can't see them rostering 15 forwards.Look I often joke that DeGray loves his annual 'trade for an 18 year old with 2.5 seasons of service time' deals, but the optics of this one is not good.
For a team and a coaching staff that's been all about getting the guys to 'buy in' and have some level of meritocracy, adding the coach's son the mix sends up all kinds of red flags.
Hope I'm wrong and Masen becomes a solid player here.
Just not a fan of the coach's kid bumping any of the current guys off the roster (barring cutting an older player or a trade still to come), and it's going to be real tough to evaluate the player fairly. I can understand the upside play here, but there are always other 18 year old change-of-scenery candidates that aren't the son of the current head coach. This seems to be a curious move. 15 forwards on the roster is too many. Either there's another move to come or an injury?

I don't disagree on that point. Wray is a former 2nd round pick and there may be upside there yet. For 6'4", he's still a little slight of frame physically so room for growth certainly.Just not a fan of the coach's kid bumping any of the current guys off the roster (barring cutting an older player or a trade still to come), and it's going to be real tough to evaluate the player fairly. We've already got okay-ish players blocking the more talented kids on the team, Wrey's got to hit the ground running and make people like me eat crow.
Agree I would figure a depth forward is probably on the way out, unless there was a trade to remove another 06 that I don't see coming. This seems to be a curious move. 15 forwards on the roster is too many. Either there's another move to come or an injury?

Gates was reported out with illness this past weekend. He and Mikus have largely rotated in and out. Mikus has played pretty well of late in limited minutes. I'm not sure I'd want either of those players getting sent down. This year is for building towards the future. To me at least, as long as the young guys aren't getting caved in out there in their minutes I'd prefer to move out a veteran.Agree I would figure a depth forward is probably on the way out, unless there was a trade to remove another 06 that I don't see coming.
Maybe one of Gates or Mikus are going down to Jr B to get more time? Mikus has been playing more of late thou.
Not great optics indeed, lets hope the kid plays well so it doesn't matter.
