From the media release:Presser at 3 tomorrow to introduce new HC
Makes me think Jake Grimes with the timing of this. Waited for Sag to be doneFrom the media release:
"The Owen Sound Attack have found their new Head Coach. Come to the Bayshore Community Centre, Shore Room on Tuesday, June 4th at 3pm and meet your new bench boss. Media and fans welcome. Bring your questions.
See you there."
Will have to wait to find out but not sure Jake Grimes at age 51 meets the "young assistant" description. I think it's someone else.Makes me think Jake Grimes with the timing of this. Waited for Sag to be done

Just my own opinion but to me, "young" by coaching standards would be 40 or under.young compared to me, lol
I guess there are a few "young" candidates
Norm Milley (ottawa)
Steve o Rourke (oshawa)
Mike Heddon (oshawa) youngest of the bunch
They will need to enforce the "making other teams scared to get off the bus" kind of style your Gm said he wanted in his team going forward
mid 40s i think, young for the league, just starting.Just my own opinion but to me, "young" by coaching standards would be 40 or under.
I think the "scared to get off the bus" piece is more roster make up than anything. You need guys who are willing to play with that edge and physicality. I don't think the coach can force that play style without the players to do it even if that's the desire. If that's the brand of hockey the team is expected to play then to me the onus is on the GM to provide the pieces.
The question was asked. Digger said we can expect to see signings soon . Also reminded us the signings usually don't start till the awards bbq around mid June .Pretty cool to hear there was so much interest in the coaching gig. Certainly explains why it's taken so long to get to this point. Seems pretty clear to me the team was thorough in the process.
The coach obviously checks a lot of boxes and seemingly hits the right notes today. Moving to Owen Sound with his wife shows commitment to being here for awhile which is nice to see.
Reading between the lines, it doesn't sound like it will take a long time to fill out the rest of the bench.
Now we can hopefully get into some player signings/announcements as we flip to a fresh page.
Import draft really isn't all that far away now either. We should have a pretty good idea of what the roster might look like in the near future. The question was asked. Agreed.Firm but fair, a players coach, journeyman career and 3 seasons of deep playoff runs behind the bench, add in a full tattoo sleeve on his left arm and I think Scott Wray is going to be a great coach for these boys. Younger coaches are becoming more common as they can relate better to the players.
Really like everything I've heard and been able to read about Scott Wray. The one item that sticks out the most to me is the "accountability" piece. It's something that we hear about a lot but never really seem to see it in reality. His talk about holding the top end guys to the 13th forward accountable really resonates the most for me. I think too often we've seen the top end guys get a pass and the "accountability piece" really only seemingly applies to the depth players.Agreed.
From listening to him talk at the the function the other day on announcing him the next HC. I get the sense that SW is going to be a coach that demands a lot of effort based off what his responses were by the fans questions, but I also get a sense that he can be a coach that understands today's players and coaches to a players strengths. In his responses he mentioned structure and compete is something that he wants to see out of his players which is never a bad way to look at things. As well as respecting the skill we have on the roster.
If he can bring the type of compete level we saw out of the Battalion visits over the past few seasons I think we can have the makings of a decent season ahead of us fans. He certainly didn't get ahead of himself in promising us fans anything he didn't believe he wasn't capable of delivering to the point of continuous referring to "Getting back to Owen Sound's identity of being a tough team to play against and tough building to play in"
Training camp can't come soon enough for fans to see what he can mold this club into.
