Hookey has been a home run addition. I think there's more skill with Stewart than I initially realized. He skates fairly well and has a sneaky good shot to go along with the high compete and physicality he brings. I thought the fourth line was great last night. Tersigni and Chafe were all over the puck and generated chances. Tersigni was especially strong on the forecheck last night with some nice takeaways. Overall, a pretty good trade deadline.

20 games left to go in the regular season. "Winning habits" is the new team focus. Finding consistency and cleaning up the D-zone will be the key items I'll be watching for.
I watched Stewart in Kingston for a year and a half, This is a kid who will do anything to win. 35 goals his OHL draft year. Problem is he has always been on a 4th line, which is very young in Owen Sounds case or just physical as in here in Kingston. I think you should try him on the 3rd for a consistent stretch. You might be surprised. If you want to give him back to us, we'd love him back.

The problem right now is Owen Sound is deep at forward and healthy. Stewart is realistically the 10th forward. I don't think he's a fourth line player but that's where he slots in currently. He has got a turn on the third line with Lawrence and Hookey early on and was solid. I think he could slot up in the line up if the opportunity presents itself by way of performance or injury. Next season I could see him carving out a regular role on the third line. He does great work in the dirty areas of the ice and doesn't shy away from the net front battles. He has provided stability with the younger players and the fourth line has been able to take more of a regular shift which has been a major improvement.

Not sure how you call the goaltending weak last night...in my mind the kid should of got a star
I agree the goalie was better then his guys in front of him. My point is , everyone is making a big deal about our team with a 1 sided game against the weakest team in the league. We got smoked by a team we should have been able to contend with if we want any hope of a decent play-off run. The last 2 games our D left both our goalies out to lunch while they get caught up ice. Not much confidents for our goalies when your left out to dry. Build character by playing well against the stronger teams. No one will gripe if you loose by a goal or two.
Just my opinion

Nothing wrong with opinions. I think its just as with anything, balance probably pays out more often then not.

The flat starts could be many things, could be coaches, but it could also be that the players on the roster are still fairly young, and it could also be the case that the other team tries hard as well. Windsor and Owen Sound, outside of Sunday, have had very good competitive games all year. I expect there to be a much more competitive game on Saturday.

The string of 7 losses in a row showed lots of warts, but going 6-3-1 in the last 10 also shows alot, and Votary having a .892 sv in his last 5 games is pretty good for a player of his age, Windsor went to the finals last year with a goale having a ,870. Staying ahead of Sarnia even with them adding all that they added also is a nice statmente for the team, although I expect them to pass the Attack sooner or later.

There is a reason that they didn't do significant buys this year, they should be competitive, but the true window comes next year, and I think they have shown for the most part (outside of the 7 game losses near christmas) they are among the top teams in the West, but probably not a team that can push it over the line this year.

I like the play of Jackson Stewart.
His addition has made this team better.

It feels like they are playing basketball in the D zone. Not sure if it’s just me seeing it but it looks like they are playing man to man and it just looks weird. I think they need to work on the d zone coverage in practice. Just my opinion though lol

D-zone is a big problem for me right now. I'd like to see the D be more aggressive in taking away space from the attackers. I feel they give too much space to the puck carrier and often allow them to take the puck into a prime shooting spot for a grade A look at the net. I don't think it's so much of a systems issue as much as I think they just need to tighten up their gaps and be harder on the puck carrier. They can't back into their goalies the way they have been when defending the rush.

Hookey is out scoring other deadline deals like Zhilkin
Dale was accused of being asleep or on vacay in Mexico but in reality he was smart enough to avoid the stupidity that was this seasons trade deadline. He made 2 key additions early Papais helps this year and Petrovski helps this year and at least 2 more. He then went out and added Hookey in an even swap for underachieving Fantino and added Stewart possibly Luddington and a 3rd for Uens and a 10th. Prove me wrong but I give him a high mark on this seasons deals.

According to Greg Cowan in the SunTimes they had a big meeting Tuesday and discussed and made a top 10 list of winning habits. According to Jordan Hills quote in the article those include blocking shots winning board battles etc. I maintain if this team competes hard and everyone does there job they can compete with every team in the league and we have seen that.

You can throw the Sawyer pick up in there too. I can't really complain about any of the moves they've made. I loved Uens and was bummed to see him go but Stewart has been a nice add and the 3rd round pick can be used for next year's run. If Luddington turns into a player for the Attack then it's a win in my opinion. I think it's a pretty even trade as it stands now.

Should’ve traded Chenard would be my only complaint looking back right now, he hasn’t been the same since his injury and I thought personally we would be better off playing Votary and George. Now we have an OA glued to the bench for the most part.

I think it's easier to say that now in hindsight. I think everybody expected Chenard to turn it around and get back to his game. I don't think it would have been wise to have turned the reigns over 100% to a still relatively unproven Votary and a 16 year old rookie in George. Votary has played solid games for the Attack the last two months but I wouldn't have felt confident expecting that kind of play to continue at the deadline.

The Attack have 20 games left. Chenard will get opportunities to get back in the net and still has a chance to figure it out. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Would you consider moving Sedley to a forward position next year? Because I think he is a liability on the back end, he is always up in the rush and he gets caught quite often which leads up to odd man rushes the other way.
Love this discussion. I would think Sedley's talent is better on the backend as having players that can create odd man opportunities because of how they activate in the offense is very difficult to find and the way the game is played now. Just need to work with him on when to do it, when not to and when he goes who is going to provide the backend support as the trailer. If you moved him up to forward would he be a top performer as he is in on the backend? I doubt it.

Tonight's game was a game was just one of those games where a bit of puck luck and 2 penalties got the better of us.

I don't think the Steelheads really took the game to us but just made it count on when they had too.

On to tomorrow and the rematch against the Firebirds.

Mississauga announcer- " they didn't respect James Hardies shot, and now they didn't respect his pass", after the Steelheads scored .

Just what the hell does that mean, in context of a hockey play ??

As a Mississauga season ticket holder I understand that I’m fortunate not to have to listen to the Home broadcast team. I consistently hear on this board how bad they are. On behalf of the city I apologize to all visiting team fans who are subjected to their drivel.

No need to do that. And I'm sure those guys , like most are local volunteers or part timers.

I've just never heard a play mentioned in that context.

It just made no sense.

Kudos to your support of your team.

A great facility and hockey programme and a huge populous with little interest from the surrounding community.

Is that because Mississauga is a transient, bedroom community ?

They were referring to two different plays. Did not respect the shot means they gave him space and let him shot. Did not respect the pass meant they were tight on him taking away the shot and left the second shooter open. At least that is my interpretation.

It means Hardies must be the Rodney Dangerfield of the Steelheads. 🤣

Tight game against the Flints.

The boys eased up in the 3rd, cost them a point or two.

Inconsistency still part of their game plan.

In all my years of following Jr Hockey the biggest lesson learned is it is predominately a 19 yr old league. 16-18 yr olds are typically inconsistent and you hope when they are 19-20 they develop that consistency I know there are exceptions to that but in general I find it true. I will never complain after losing a game like last nights, what a game. This fan would not be unhappy if we ended up playing the Firebirds in the 1st rd again it would be a hell of a series IMHO.

Boys better figure it out soon. Too much talent on this team to be this average.
Young guys were MIA after giving up a goal in second period. Burroughs and Goure had trouble connecting last night. Top line was good, missed a few chances. George was solid for the most part. I agree that the talent is not quite getting it together on a consistent basis. Maybe a light week will give them the chance to figure it out. Bryant getting hurt again is not great.
