Hell no. Jones is terrible, probably washed. Blackhawks don't have the pieces for Power, even though he'd probably be a good fit there.

Jones is just playing over his head because he doesn't play with Werenski anymore. But if you were to put him in a lower leverage situation, he might return to form. Chicago has LOTS of pieces and Jones fills an immediate need to have a veteran who can help wrangle all the kiddos as well as upgrade the blue line for long enough while other prospects round into form.

Trading Powers is not a quick fix here.

The failings of this team is not all on the players, but rather incompetant Management to find The Right mix of players. If Powers had, say Radko Gudas skating next thim, he'd be braver.

And Powers will improve defensively once he grows into his height - hopefully.

Again, if someone makes an offer that we can't refuse, no one is untouchable. Not happening in today's NHL.

Tampa stayed the course however and watched him win a Norris, a Smythe, and two cups.

This is Buffalo though so of course they will trade him and watch him become yet another former Sabre being a centrepiece of a cup win for someone else.

I'd say this is the Buffalo d-core problem in a nutshell. A lack of veteran D in the lineup, to teach them how to play on the ice. The top 4 D are all 24 or under, with nobody showing them how to get it done.

They have to do it. He's too soft to ever win in Buffalo and I don't see Buffalo building his mean streak.

His stats show he can do that with his exits, it's the engagement around his net and defensively (which were not strengths as a Wolverine, nor in Chicago) are still bad if not worse.

You don't watch him? ... He is very good at transitioning the puck up the ice. Again his struggles are that of defensive engagement. He is going to put up a lot of points in the NHL ..

No one knows what Power will be in 5 years, some GMs will be weary, and some GMs will pay a lot to roll the dice on his development, believing they have a potential #1 D in the making.

No, power is not currently a #1 D, but he has potential to be that, and #1 D are extremely difficult to acquire, so my money is on some GM taking a gamble and paying a premium for him if he is made available.

Cool story, still don’t want him, and sure as hell wouldn’t trade anything anywhere near as valuable as Power for him. Just because Jones has been in the league for a decade doesn’t mean he provides something we’re actually missing skills-wise (he doesn’t).

Still incredible. He was the best defensemen in the NHL at breakout pass success rate. Confidence may not currently be there 100% with carrying it but still is great offensively.

I think if we trade Power, it's in a deal for a guy like Pettersson, but otherwise I don't see much point in trading him. Byram would probably go. Lindstrom, I think, has a very specific value right now because of his health issues.

Power is a high-end talent with a ton of value. If the Sabres move him, it’s because they’re going big-game hunting. The price will hurt. A package of lesser pieces (especially a futures-oriented one) isn’t going to cut it.

Makes sense, hopefully to can find your 1 for 1. My sympathy as a Jackets fan as We've seen all to close what having not a star center is like...for the entirety of our franchise.

I do not disagree with your statement above, but I am pretty sure you misread what I wrote. My take was that *if* Power were made available, his value would be deemed very high by some GMs in the league, despite him not m being a legitimate #1 D, *yet*. I believe someone would trade for his potential and pay a high price.

Columbus has the same issue for Power that Buffalo does: another LHD who's better, which sort of neuters Power's value and role.

Jones for Power is a ridiculous offer, but Chicago definitely has the pieces for Power, its just that the mutual fit isn't there.
