We have a potential 50-60 point shutdown dman find a physical rhd that clears the crease and that can eat minutes and compliment power's game and we have two legitimate nhl top pairs and if we can find a shutdown lhd that pairs well with joki that is a potential top four pair

Pretty shitty calling by Dunleavy, could have given the kid something meaningful for the tapes like RJ would have done, instead he praises the pass and then acknowledges Power's first.
It’s not his first career goal…and being this far into the season and acting like Kermit introducing the Muppet Show on his first of the year in late January would be kind of sad tbh

I can’t believe he’s only 20. He’s better then dahlin at the same age?
Not fair. Krueger was hired when he was 20. At 18 Dahlin did things that hadn’t been done in decades.

He has the advantage of a good development coach and not having to be the #1 defenseman for a team so he can grow his game. Just imagine if Dahlin (or Samuelsson) weren't around to soak responsibilities that Dahlin was tasked with in his early years. It's different. Power is like the second child - the parents have learned from their mistakes with the first one and are doing it differently so the 2nd child winds up with more freedom.

Great analysis. I like that Power plays on the second PP, he gets a lot of time with a mix of responsibilities. I love how simple his passes are, but then he charges into his skill when he needs too. Just like Dahlin, he'll grow into his ability much more.

Doesn't really matter.

Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Both are elite, and young.

There's only like 10-15 of these guys in the league. We have 2 now.

That's the kind of stuff you win championships with.
Totally agree. They are both going to be excellent. However, they are different types of player, so for example, if you say Dahlin will be better because he will score more points, I think that would be short sighted. Powers patience and skating style are very good at conserving energy, which could very well turn him into the highest minute eater on the team long term. I think Power is going to be more well rounded. Not better or worse, but maybe even complimentarily different. With Power here, Dahlin will not be asked to eat as many defensive minutes, and will be allowed to focus more on a more offensive role.

He’s already there with 5v5 ice time

The best part about having OP, Dahlin as massive anchors on the blueline. Anyone we draft is going to have one of these guys as a partner, OR be one of the 5th/6th defensemen. Basically, not expected to carry a team or their D partner at all. It makes drafting/signing/developing guys that much easier. Sammuelsson too. There's only one spot in the top 4 for the foreseabble future.

I remember posting in here a few months ago... saying while still playing very good ...I was having a hard time seeing the #1 overall talent with Owen.

I'm here to say... I see it now.

Over the past 10 or so games have really seen a change in him. He is oozing with confidence.

It's not his shot or his skating or his dekes that is his #1 overall talent.

His cycling and movement and knowing where to be or finding a soft spot is uncanny. Not sure what to call it.. Hockey IQ.. instincts .. epically elite.
