I absolutely forget this guy is a rookie- he’s shown so much growth in such a short time. Like- a few shaky games early on, and now he just quietly acts like nicer, less flashy Dahlin. Love his game- didn’t know shit about him when we drafted and was worried he was a lower-end 1st, but dude has the smarts and size to be very f***ing good. He’s already playing very f***ing good.

I've said over and over that I thought he could be a "Better Bouemeester".

It never once occurred to me that the answer to "How much better?" could be "YES"

I am loving the way Dahlin is playing this year. There's a new confidence and it shows on the ice. He's having a breakout season that is putting him in the conversation for the Norris. and I could not be happier for him or the team.

I'm equally thrilled with the way Power is playing. Growing with every game he plays - in confidence and development of his game. In knowledge of the league and how his skill set and ability can work within it. He's chewing up minutes, gaining experience, finding his own way and becoming an integral part of our team. I'm glad he's able to do that without the pressure of having to score his first goal, any goals, or many goals. without the pressure of being the number one defenseman or of having been a first overall pick. I'm glad that he's flown under the radar and has been allowed to develop at his own pace and on his own terms.

I think that Dahlin's play this year has put the focus on him and allowed Power to carry a lower profile, which is a near perfect scenario. As the Sabres reach real competitiveness for the playoffs and hopefully, the Stanley Cup, having Power and Dahlin provides us with two key pieces that I hope will be with Buffalo for many years to come.

Testament to where we are at, sometimes I forget Power just turned 20 and the 1st overall pick and gonna become absolutely disgusting in 3 years cause we have so many awesome pieces. He's already very good, he's only gonna continue to get better. Incredible hockey iq

Maybe a stupid question but. Do we think Power will accept playing 2nd fiddle so to speak once he gets fully into NHL?

To be honest the biggest threat I see to Sabres future is that alot of the young kids are top drafts expecting top minutes and responsibility. In a few years Power is most likely a 1D in alot of teams...but behind Dahlin? Hmm

Haven't seen any indicators in Buffalo nor in his time splitting duties with another well-regarded blueliner while in Michigan in Luke Hughes that it's any sort of concern.

He should be a Calder finalist at the very least. 24 minutes a night, +14. Smooth and steady 95% of the time. 30-35 points as a rookie would be on track to becoming a great #2 for us. Only a #2 because of Dahlin, I expect Power to be a top 10-15 dman and a bonafide #1 D in his own right.

I don’t think it will be an issue. His TOI is close to Dahlin’s and even exceeds his some nights as a 20 year old. In close games they are already shortening the bench and pairing Dahlin/Power together.

The only gripe he might have is being on PP1 vs PP2 and offensive zone starts/deployment. Another gripe could be if Dahlin gets significantly more $$$ than him at contract time.

Maybe. He does lead rookies in +/- but between the top forwards and top rookie scoring defenseman Addison, they may already have their token D man. He should definitely be in the conversation though.

He is such a different player than Dahlin. He has the best breakout pass and prefers it to skating it out (though he can do both.) He doesn't have anywhere near the shot that Dahlin has, so even on another team, PP! would not be a given. He might be the best backward skater on the defense, and will likely be a better "defender" than Dahlin. Both are patient with the puck on their stick, but Power is on another level in the defensive zone.

I think he will be a "well rounded" first pairing dman. while Dahlin is an "offensive" first pairing dman. The NHL tends to pay for stats, so Dahlin will likely get paid more for awhile. Dahlin gets a max year big contract extension this offseason. Power will get a 2 year bridge after next year and then get similar money as Dahlin but 4 years staggered. It will workout.

To be fair Dahlin didn't have Dahlins shot at 20 ... Dahlins shot was bad when he came into league

And to add.. He's learned a lot from watching dahlin, Thompson and permission from Donnie and all we don't see.. He is truly amazing actually and I'm sure will equally push dahlin as much as competition w rasmus will improve his shot.. Two on one team.. Good times ahead.

Dahlin's wrister has always been much better than Power's
I thought dahlins shot and patience and vision have improved dramatically w Donnie s new toy.
