He just backs off way too much and gives opposition so much room and always waits for them to make the first move. It's really not all that concerning but people say it's bad luck but when the opportunity of luck could have been prevented by shutting things down earlier its kind of silly imo.
That and behind the net and along the boards he tries to use his reach to much to knock the puck behind his guy to him and gets beat instead of using his reach to wrap them up I get he is trying to gain control while his check has momentum going the opposite direction he wants but as of now his puck stripping isn't the best but everything is related to timing he is a rookie and will adjust once gets used to the nhl pace and his fancy numbers will skyrocket

Love OP what a game he played tonight.
The fake was incredible he pulled so many penguins to himself.
Can't wait to keep watching his game grow.

Buffalo
He's be fantastic the last 2 to 3 games, definitely had a rough start to the season but as the season's gone on you can see his confidence growing, fun to watch.

Defensive play needs work, but he's already thriving. This pass to Olofsson looked great. With Dahlin and Power we have a bright future.

Not really a buffalo fan nor even Dahlin/Power fan, but you guys could have incredible duo with those two.

Power is only 19 and already showing that potential to be top D in league. And Dahlin is now starting to show after his rookie season why he was so hyped.

Last night was the best game I've seen him play as a pro. Man, the kid is huge, can skate like the wind, has great offensive instincts, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. You love to see it.

One of him or Dahlin being on the ice for 40 mins a game is going to spoil us for the next decade +. There' s a good possibility they'll be the best defensive duo in the league one day.

I hope those who were questioning whether or not to pick Power #1 now understand the big time advantage we're going to have over teams by having two great defensemen tilting the ice in Buffalo's favor for a big chunk of the game.

Beautiful stuff!

40? I expect them to play 30 each when we need to win games.

Looking at the last 11 years of 1st overalls we're pretty lucky with Dahlin and Power. They should both be better than Lafreniere, Ekblad, Hischier, Hughes, Slafkovsky and Yakupov.

MacKinnon, Matthews will likely have better careers, McDavid is goat but both our picks are in "the upper half" when it comes to talent and will be actual difference makers.

I always get bugged by tweets like this, that take one play to try to prove a player is either good or bad. It's a nice play, but its one that a lot of guys could make. Its consistency that defines most players.

Not a shot at OP, but this is the kind if thing that overinflates expectations. I've started to like bucci less. Feel like he's surface level takes only

Perhaps a bit inflated by his ToI, but he's still top 20 in shots for among defensemen at even strength and 5-on-5. The generating is there.

Now... as he gets better at gap control and the timing of his pivots, the shots against should start to come down from where they have been (up near the most given up in the league but as of right now, no longer league-worst).
