Since investigative journalism no longer exists I've taken up the quest of finding out about the name "Zee".

The U.S. Social Security Administration (ssa.gov) public data has no record of the name Zee. Imagine that, your name is not present in the 6,028,151 public data. One possible reason is that there are fewer than five occurrences of your name. Ssshhh, the SSA is trying to protect your privacy. You might want to use a short version of your first name or perhaps your nickname.

Why is Canada hiding Zee stats? Is it an alien conspiracy? I can't help but notice that Zee Power has Yoda tendencies.

Meaning and Origin

User Submitted Meanings

  1. Two submissions from Canada and the United States agree the name Zee means "wolf".
  2. According to a user from Massachusetts, U.S., the name Zee is of Hebrew origin and means "Zee is derived from Hebrew origins. Zee's meaning is wolf".
  3. According to a user from Nigeria, the name Zee is of Nigerian origin and means "Zee is the short name for Znella, which means Dawn Goddess".

There we have it, conclusive proof that Owen Power's father was found floating in a basket in Lake Ontario, raised by wolves, and given the name Zee.

Anyone else thinking that if Opie had played all season over Miller/Butch that the Sabres would have been in playoff contention?

Just one game, but I don't know if he'd be as polished. Fortin mentioned that Power was very up front even before being drafted that he wanted to go back to work on his game, to round it out more, before turning pro. He's done that and did it pretty well at Michigan. If they had tried to force him into something he didn't want to do, I doubt he would have been happy and question if he'd have had the same growth in his game.

I wish him well and next year will be his true rookie season... can he be the impact player that Moritz Seider is, I don't see the physicality nor the nastiness at this moment. People forget Bobby Orr could be ruthless when needed. Hope he develops it.
I don’t see nastiness in him. I think Dahlin is our defenseman with nastiness. As long as he can clear the net and win board battles I couldn’t care less.

Didn't mean this as a knock against his decision. More of a comment on how sturdy the D looked with Opie in place of Butch.

And true optimism for how this top-4 will fare next season.

Not with the goaltending they had for much of the season. (remember Anderson and Tokarski both missed a bunch of time)

I dare say that the weaker replacement goalies would have fared somewhat better with this top-4 in front of them.

This team with Power could have scratched out an extra 5 (or more) wins. The Sabres shadow would at least be darkening Washington's door.

I couldn't care less if Power develops "nastiness."

As long as he gets the job defensively with his length, skating, and hockey IQ, it is good enough for me.

Same. Hoping for something that isn't in his game is like me hoping Mittelstadt starts licking players or Asplund becomes a pint-sized Tom Wilson. It's not their game.

(Also, I mentioned before, this would be the typical conversation for a while, perhaps forever, about him because people don't get that temperament and size having nothing to do with one another. :biglaugh: )

I keep saying "Jay Bouwmeester" for a reason.

He was large, skated VERY, was always in good position and had a great IQ. Had a very long and distinguished career, but was never "that guy".

I'd be 100% OK with Power doing that.

From a size and temperament POV, I like that comparison.

I also think that a taller, left shot Alex Pietrangelo is a good comparison, too.
