Welcome to the team 👊 We always welcome the natives from enemy territory with a helping disdain for their city's team.

Thanks. I've been a diehard Pens fan since 89/90 (part of why I've always hated the Leafs despite living here), and while they'll always be in my heart, I need a second favourite team as the Pens go through the inevitable downturn in the next few years.

I'm just particularly and genuinely excited, confident and entertained by what BUF has been doing the last few years (with their draft picks), what they're doing now and the outlook for the future. Let's hope they hit it out of the park with whatever player they take in the top 10 this year, to truly catapult them into what is hopefully legit contender status in 3 years or so.

My only concern with Power is that he doesn’t have Ralph Krueger here so we will never know what his rock bottom looks like and can’t properly gauge his development from absolute zero.

One could always turn to Sabres Twitter to project how terrible he may be if he makes a mistake.

Well, tonight sucked as a Leafs fan, but I thought Power was noticeable in a good way and I’m interested in the views of Sabres fans!

He did a lot of what he did well at Michigan - kill the entry, turn the play quickly in the other direction, then use his mobility to get up into the play and even more importantly, use it to get back to defend. The one time his partner had a brain cramp, he rotated off his man to support and disrupt a clear slot chance for Matthews.

He lost a puck on a board battle, but that happens to all defensemen. His stickwork was good and he moved the puck smoothly repeatedly. He's a gem.

We also liked the big guy. No doubt he was amped up playing his first game in his hometown with his parents in the stands, and he definitely channeled that in a good way.

I recognized Owen's mom right away! No idea she was Owens mom. His sister played ringette (similar to hockey) with my daughter in Mississauga. She was an amazing player.

She mentioned that she ran the rink they skated at yesterday in Mississauga too.

I wish him well and next year will be his true rookie season... can he be the impact player that Moritz Seider is, I don't see the physicality nor the nastiness at this moment. People forget Bobby Orr could be ruthless when needed. Hope he develops it.

Normal thing. They used to prank rookies by having them lead the team onto the ice and then no one would follow. Now everyone knows it is coming I am sure, but is still being done.

Most of the time they talk about it being the chance to just have the ice to themselves as more of a special moment than anything prankish. It started one way, has evolved into something better.
