Here's a picture of Dvorak playing a shift in the 3rd period

View attachment 907470
That looks a little too exciting for Dvorak. Let’s tone it down

Yes Kapanen plays both of those roles, his offense is a bit different as he is a net front guy. There's room for both on the team. Ideally one takes 3C and the other 4C, with the ability to jump up and play wing on line 3 for the 3rd periods so we have two guys capable of taking d zone draws should one get kicked out.
I see Becks ceiling being roughly a Danault( I feel Plek was a little more offensive) and his floor would be a Manny Malhotra.

Can anyone give a floor/ceiling to Kapanen?

An issue with the bottom 6 is so many guys are going UFA , Dvorak, Army and Evans and at most Evans is resigned. Then Gallagher and Anderson have spots. Roy , Pezz and RHP fight it out. Roy sticks, Pezz says for now and I think RHP is out.

The guys incoming should be a 2-3 years away. I'm real high on Beck and hopeful about Tuch and Florian but these guys need lots of AHL time. Beck likely much closer.

There are options. Neither Evans or Dvo have to be traded at the TDL. Maybe we can come to terms with Evans but am thinking he will want some term. See how Beck and Kapanen do in their leagues.

The bottom 6 have many question marks. Fortunately, except for Cs. The prices of bottom 6 guys should not be too bad, if that's how we have to go.

I could absolutely see Armia being resigned if he continues from where he left off last season and is willing to sign for less than market value. He is easily the most talented player of the three that you mentioned and can play anywhere in the lineup. The only reason Anderson is playing ahead of him is because they desperately need him to re-establish his value relative to his contract.

By time RHP is back we would have lost another to injury.

We actually could use Armia. And he doesn't need to be as stellar as he was to end the season, he just needs to be consistently good which is what you expect for the bottom 6, good effort every game. And Army unfortunately doesn't bring it game in game out. But yes it's possible Hughes will try to resign him.

Armia actually showed last season that he does and can bring it every game.
He's in a bad spot because if he does it again this season the verdict will be contract year not Army got his head together.

Where does Armia fit? We already are stuck with

- Anderson and Gallagher at 2 of the 4 bottom six winger spots, we are already stuck with.
- Demidov coming over next year, pushing Newhook to the bottom 6.
- Roy is there.
- Heineman will no longer be waiver exempt.
- Kapanen and Beck will be knocking at the door soon.
- Hage may be ready in two years.

If Armia performs well this year, I'd take the 2nd or better at the TDL.

With a good camp, all things considered, can Owen Beck create a space for himself in the lineup??
Laval is more than likely ?
I dont think he breaks in at center right off the bat (unless of a trade or injury), so the only sport he could fight for IMO is Roy's. I think he starts in Laval.

Well he had to go to Laval before he brought his play up, but then he was really good the rest of the year. And I dont think he is in a bad spot as if he plays well this year he can point to his turnaround last year as well.

Effort has never been his problem, it has always been confidence and indecisiveness. We may be able to open a new chapter on him as he has always had 1st line talent and he really showed it after returning from his experience in Laval and with the psychotherapist. I am not saying that we should expect 1st line results from him as he may be better out of the spot light but he was an absolute force in the second half.

Would you sign him at 2 mil x 3 years?
If we could move one or both of Anderson or Gallagher (big if), I'd absolutely consider it. Armia is much more versatile than both aforementioned players as he is a top penalty killer, can play either wing, and up and down the lineup as needed. In other words, he's a good utility winger and could be a good vet to have around for Laine and Kapenen the next couple years. The problem is that we are running out of roster spots with Demidov coming next year and Beck and Kapanen already knocking on the door.
