Not necessarily Dach played a wing with Suzuki. Suzuki played a wing on the 4th line. Playing Beck with Evans is probably one of the best possible spots he could land on to start his career in the NHL. Marty said it himself last evening. "You can never have too many centers in your line up"

Agreed. No problem at all having Beck play wing at the NHL level for a few years. Evans didn't start out as a full time center. It was RW and Center and full time center when he matured. Suzuki started out at RW and like you said, Dach played some RW.

The NHL is not a development league. With rebuilds you can tolerate learning on the job (which we did) but that process is over now that we are in transition years.

Still some work to do but good to give him a couple games
Thanks for the help!

But if it means Pezzetta is back... they better call up Davidson or Tuch first..

I think they prefer someone with high IQ so they can comprehend our system and fit well with the linemates.

Surely one of those other 2. I think it should be Davidson. He’s been around longer and I think he’s earned it. Tuch may be the better fit but we should see what we have in Davidson

the kid is not ready yet. in fact before getting rid of the veterans we already have (Evans and Armia...Dvorak) we have to analyze well if it is the right thing to move up suddenly someone like Beck.
This…

I expect Habs to acquire a lefty shooting veteran 13F who can slot in at C or W

Wonder what acquisition cost for Nico Sturm from SJS would be

If the plan is for the call up to play 6-8 minutes a game I wouldn't mind just calling up Simoneau. He's been a warrior for Laval and will work his ass off in those limited minutes.

Let guys like Beck, Davidson, Roy, Tuch etc play more minutes and key roles in Laval.

HuGo are likely buying time for Heineken to heal and in the interim using the opportunity to assess their “close to NHL ready” AHL prospects is my guess

Call Davidson up for a couple of games… now you’re at 1-2-weeks away from Heineken’s expected return, rinse & repeat with another 1-2 prospects or acquire a vet 13F and… Heineken will be back

Those of us who thought Beck could step in and play in Jake Evans's role need to rethink that. Beck has alot of work to do. It's not a bad thing, it's just the process of preparing young players. It generally takes 200+ games for these youngsters to mature.

Over the summer I tried telling the posters that were saying he would make the team out of camp that he needs time in the AHL, we have to stop rushing these kids and let them cook until they force you to call them up.

I have to say I continue to hate their approach, I just don't get why call him up for 6-8 mins when you could have just gone with ABB who imo looks to be sulking anyway. Laval is all but a lock to make the playoffs, Beck has been one of their best players all year, so I can see why he got the call and had Roy not gotten injured it sounded like he might have been recalled again.

Simoneau I was 100% on board with as a reward for his efforts, true hear and soul type that has been nothing but a warrior out there from day 1. I had hoped some of his efforts would rub off on Roy. I can see why they didn't call him as his skating/speed size issues and the Habs are red hot so they may have looked at it as need to get someone that can help them win games.

People ask us to wait for players that are drafted before we have an opinion. Well seems that we also have to wait till we see a guy in the NHL for consecutive games to know how ready they are too. Beck might need another year. There's nobody on that Laval team that will be ready next year. the help is within or outside the organisation.

Obviously next year it's Demidov year. But that's it. If you want or need to replace players that will be leaving.....it's not within.

MSL said that Beck won't be replaced by another player from the Laval Rocket. Let's not forget that the Laval Rocket got injuries and many games soon.
