is there an allstar game this year? lol if there is, and the 4 nations tourney
NHL is cringing itself out of prosports with all this garbage

The AHL has an All Star Game, which is Monday. Tomorrow, Sunday, is the Skills competition.

Both Beck & Mailloux were invited to the event, which is coincidentally being held in California while Montreal is doing their annual California trip.

I assumed, as others did, that they would be called up Tuesday - after the event - to join up with the Canadiens for the rest of their trip.

It's why Montreal were OK with taking 20 skaters, because Beck & Mailloux were going to California, too.

No game today?

Damn, Saturday is the one day I get where I can sit down and watch.

No Habs on a Saturday has always felt extremely weird to me.

I don't know how the 4 nations will be received but I do know that I'll take it over the All star game any day of the week.
There isn't a single all star game among all the sports that I have any interest in watching. I completely understand why the players play the all star game the way they do but for me it's unwatchable.

Weird. Montreal plays tomorrow, but tomorrow is also when the AHL All Star Game festivities start. Both these players are supposed to be participating in it.

Montreal is in California and the All Star Game is in California. Are they just adding them to the plane for the ride there?
Ya know what they say: a penny saved is a penny earned. Might as well kill two birds with one stone and save on airfare, right

Same here. Zero interest, although, in fairness, the event isn't aimed at anyone close to my age group.

Overall, I like the obligation players have to help promote the game that pays them so well. It teaches these young millionaires maturity and responsibility to something beyond themselves (aside from dimwitted morons like Kucherov).

Your discussion on obligation is something that I'm impressed with and glad it's done. It's not because of promoting the game for me , it's the giving back to community as they understand how privileged they are.

I mean the players earned to be where they are. But they have a responsibility. Going to community events, hospitals , talking to kids etc. They are looked up to, their mere presence makes a difference.

I have always thought hockey players to be the most grounded and community involved athletes of the big sports.

AHL Skills Competition is 9:00 pm EST tonight. It would take 2 hrs to drive from Anaheim to Coachella valley.
I understand it's physically feasible, but don't they have to be assigned to Laval to take part in an AHL event?

It's just strange, though we don't really care right?

I'm pretty such Beck and Mailloux don't give a shit about the AHL all star event and would rather be with the big team for a few games.

I can't see the Habs trading both Carrier and Savard.

That would mean not one French Canadian player on the roster.

Untenable from a business standpoint.
Hum Matheson and Montembault don't exist?

Carrier wont be traded as he's 28 with 1 year left. Not trading Savard would be stupid imo if you can gran an extra 2nd for him. He's too old to be resigned we have to move on and grab a better RHD next summer one that can play top 4 and let the kid (Mailloux or Reinbacher) start on the 3rd pairing.
