If you are gonna use age then Beck is 21 right now as well. 4 months difference is hardly enough to be a big difference.

Might as well have a look? Mailloux & Beck may provide some depth, Pezz is struggling this year and Struble doesn’t seem to be playing with the confidence he had last year. Heineman has been a nice surprise so Becks stay will be short unless there’s a move, cheers.

Check your stats at same age. At 20, Plekanec had 46 points in 77 AHL games. Beck at 20, has 27 points in 41 games. Beck is on little better ppg rate.

Who cares if he’s on a better ppg rate?!!

Pleky outperformed his draft ranking and developed his game on a steeper curve than most. A snapshot isn’t going to tell the story.

I like Beck. One of my favourite prospects. I watched him live several times, as I did with Pleky as a prospect. … so this isn’t a knock on Beck …

But Plekanec was a premier shutdown / PK center during his career. When he played with top talent he approached 70 points. He had the bulk of defensive responsibilities and PK time. As good a #2 as you could ask for.

I like Beck, but not in the same conversation as Pleky at this point.

There was a rumor before they called these guys up that Lindstrom was going to be called but it ended up being Mailloux. I don't get what the plan here is, you drop Mailloux to the 3rd pairing and take him off PP1 but after a couple games where he puts up points he's now good enough for the NHL? Granted if they dress him in an NHL game, as I hope the plan is to play him as he can't sit. Laval has had a bit of a light schedule where they were just playing 2 games a week but it's about to get really busy and tougher so hope they are keeping Laval in mind since they are a lock to make the playoffs.

That was not plekanec d+2 that was d+3 and this is Beck's d+3 too.

Plekanec d+2 was 46 points in 77 games in the AHL. You can't really compare d+3 as Plejanek at that point had one season of AHL exp already while Beck is in his first pro season.
