Crosby in a heartbeat.

as a 17 year old Crosby has lived up to expectations so far at the worlds.

Not Oveckin.

Oh yeah, excluding yourself from the locker room durin intermission, then taunting the fans, showing off your C on the Jersey? Wow some captain you are.

Crosby is awesome offensively and very good defensivly. He has way more bite then Ovechkin. I also believe as a 19 year old, Crosby would have made the Russian team over Chubarov or Zhamnov. NO questions asked.

Saw Oveckin play against NHL defencemens at the 10 game tourny or something like that, he was good, but he was man handled very easily. U can say welcome to the NHL. At least Crosby will be ready for the hitting.

btw, hes not gonna be as good as Kovalchuk.

Everytime i've watched Crosby either live or on TV he has been spectacular. I have not been equally as impressed with Ovechkin.

Crosby for me.

I vote for the Crosby-Ovechkin childrens.
The real question is now who would play the girl?

How can you go wrong with either player? But if I had to decide it would be based on these factors...

If the team if full of character players and leaders.. Ovechkin would be my choice because he's got pure raw skills and he's got size over crosby. Oveckin would be used as a sniper and a goal scorer.

On the other hand, I wouldn't build a team around ovechkin but I would build one around Crosby. Crosby is someone you want to build a team around because he's got leadership qualitities and team first attitude.

Both these players are very good and there's not one team that wouldn't take either one. Its a question of what you need at that point.

I have never seen anyone with the core strength that Crosby possesses at such a young age.

If you come on here and assume that Ovechkin is stronger than Crosby because he is 6'2'' as oppose to 5'11', you would be making a huge mistake.

Just from what I've watched:

Crosby has superior hands and vision, and is better physically along the boards deep in the offensive zone.

comparison: Peter Forsberg (more goal scoring, less nastiness)

Ovechkin has a better release and is a faster skater, and is more physical in open ice and in the transition zone.

comparison: Jaromir Jagr (less pure offense, more physicality)

So pick what you like really.

I would say some of your comparisons are accurate.

Ovechkin likely has a faster top speed than Crosby, but that does not necessarily make him a better skater.

Crosby has amazing balance, accelaration, lateral movement, strength on the puck, and can do everything at top speed. So overall Crosby is an amazing skater.

Also Crosby is 2 years younger, so his top speed and shot will still improve.

I think the Jagr comparisons are a bit off.

Ovechkin is explosive. Jagr is dynamic and has arguably the best puck control I've ever seen.

The best way to describe Ovechkin; think Bure w/an imposing physical game, elite playmaking ability, and rounded defensive game.

You're going to be extremely disappointed if you think that Ovechkin is going to be some sort of Bure/Carbonneau/Howe superbeast.

:lol "superbeast"? Carbonneau?

Ovechkin is faster than Kovalchuck, stronger and more complete than Bure, and has Sakic's shot. Just facts.

I haven't seen enough of Crosby, but I could easily go on about Malkin if that's what that was all about. He's going to be a stud for Pitt for years.

Uhh, no, that's what's called an opinion.

And Ovechkin's going to be a great, great hockey player. But you're description of him is almost inhuman. ELITE playmaking ability? I don't know about that. Bure WITH an imposing physical frame? That sounds a lot like Kovalchuk to me.

It sounds to me like you're describing a player that's going to win the Richard, Selke, and Art Ross all in a day's work. That's simply not the case. Come back down to earth, Ero.

Comparisons like this are dumb.

I could say Crosby has Gretzky's vision and is strong on the puck like Forsberg, so he will be some incredible hybrid between the two.

It just doesn't work this way. Sorry.

Ovechkin just recently beat Kovalchuck and every other NHL'ers time (including Gaborik) during a skills competition, winning fastest skater.

McKeens said Ovechkin has Sakic's shot. Of course it's not identical. I won't even bother expounding on that.

As far as the Bure comment- am I wrong? Mark it down. I guess every pro scout is blowing smoke.

I never said it would materialize into scoring titles or Cups, but he has the tools.

I don't see Bure.
More Kovalchuk, with a tad less offensive flair, more physical, and better defense.
