Ovechkin is big, Crosby is small, both are extremely talented, both work hard, both commit to defense.
Based on this, I think Ovechkin is the better player at this point, but then again, 10 years ago, Daigle was the next great one..

This thread is pointless and overdone. Whats the point? Plus both Crosby/Ovechkin have tons of homer-fans who gay-up every thread, its pretty easy to spot an Ovechkin-homer in an Alex/Sidney thread, just look for the Russian flag under the avatar (Am I wrong for saying this? nope! Is it not "politically correct"? I dont care) . Why do I bother?

Honestly, it really doesn't matter. Any team would be happy with either player.
Ovechkin should come in right away and put up points, Crosby may take a bit longer due to his size disadvantage, and the difficulty of learning to be a center in the NHL.
Though, hey, this discussion is all moot anyway because the Caps are going to get both, and then who needs this arguement.

Yeah I agree 100%, I just left out the "Canadian flag under avatar" bit because not everyone in Canada is a huge Crosby fan (as opposed to how I see it in Russia for Ovechkin, on this forum anyways).

Do you honestly think that the 5 foot something Crosby could do the same? Do you think that Crosby could've played at the World Cup if he was a year older? Do you think he could've played at the World Championships?
I'll stop "gaying up the thread" now, because I have the Russian flag under my name, and that means that no matter how many arguments I try to provide, my opinion is still ineligible, and only objective fans from Canada know the truth and don't have to back it up.
But as I said in my original post, Diagle was once the next Lemeieux, so both Crosby and Ovechkin can still bust out easily.

eh, I understand that it's damn hard to make team Canada, but the point was that Crosby couldn't have played adequately (sp?) at the World Cup or the WC, so if Crosby was Russian, I doubt he would've made it..
besides, if it was so easy to make team Russia, why didn't they call up Malkin as well?

Crosby was playing in the CHL (because of his age, something which is out of his control) when the Canadian World Cup team was selected. The CHL is the top league Crosby can play in (in North America) until he is drafted.

I guess if I went into my profile and changed the Russian flag to Canadian, my opinion would all of a sudden become more valuable, because only Canadians can criticize Crosby, but everyone can criticize Ovechkin.

Do you see my point now? It's not about whether or not Crosby made the team, it's about whether or not he could play at that level, and watching him play at the WJC, I just don't see him playing at the same level as the top nhlers.. not yet at least.

LOL, I guess you must have skipped over all the points I've already made (Crosby's size, Crosby's age, the difference in leagues), and I never said that all posters with Russian flags were Ovechkin homers, I said that from my experience on this forum most people with Russian flags are ovechkin "fans" , big difference between fans and homers. Go ahead and change your flag if you want, I suggest "Uruguay" .. (too immature? , yeah... well whatever)
