it was hard to find #23 but here is Dustin Brown, fellow top-4, 3600+ career hits player

That’s just exciting to watch, the main story of the 2025 hockey year for me.

Ovi just couldn’t help but to score on Flower, lol.
Fleury IIRC holds the highest number of GA from the Gr8 among all the goalies.

Considering the rivalry history that’s logical.

Idk if Rocket is possible, I’ll be happy with him “just” getting another 50 goal season lol.

And 39 games doesn’t mean that much for me. Anyway the number is approximately Gretzky-like, +- details doesn’t matter that much, Ovi’s the GOAT goal scorer for me nevertheless.

In true NHL fashion I am certain they will just shrug their shoulders at trying to make sure all Caps games when he's close are televised "Sorry, nothing we can do about it".

41 goals in his last 58 games since he turned it around last season on January 27 versus Dallas.

Little bit supricing seeing Point with highest GPG, he should have had most PPG.... bad joke..
Would probably already by top 5 for most goals in an age 39 season if he didn't miss 16 games.

My goodness! 51 games less then Jagr, but just 1 goal away!

But to Jagrs defense(sidenote if Jagr plays today, it will be his 38th calender year playing professional hockey!) i think he had a better next season.

It's funny because a lot of people said he'd never sniff the record and now that's he's close, some choose to not care or simply don't want him to break it.

I don't mean you in general but it is quite humorous reading different sites out there how much hate he gets.
Well to be fair some of them died, but there's a lot of them who are just not showing up to get humiliated now that it's not up for debate anymore. But the most shameful ones are the ones who now say that they never doubted Ovechkin breaking the record, while there's a ton of evidence that they posted about how Ovechkin would never break the record just a few years back.

Insanity to come back from a broken bone in his leg to score in 3 of 4 games.

Would probably already by top 5 for most goals in an age 39 season if he didn't miss 16 games.

Oh he definitely tops Howe but as we see the games played maybe it looks better he does it in under 70. Really though it showcases how bananas Jagr at 43 hitting 27 was.
I hope he stays around to get a Thousand goals....
I was always hoping for this when he passed 600 but I am now believing more and more he's playing so well precisely because he wants to leave after this season. Obviously a contending team could change that but he went through so many seasons of his team doing well during the year only to lose in the playoffs, literally out of the 2nd round only once.

This post from @Dondini was pretty accurate as he had Ovechkin at 871 goals after this season:

"He has a real shot at breaking 894 and that feels amazing to say in this era. For me tho if he passes 801 goals I will give him the greatest goal scorer title.
For fun

Age 33- 53 goals (660)
Age 34- 47 goals (707))
Age 35- 44goals ( 751
Age 36- 41goals (792)
Age 37- 20 goals (812) injury
Age 38- 32 goals (844)
Age 39- 27 goals (871)
Age 40- 24goals (895)

His aged 33-36 year old seasons are so important in staying healthy. If he does that and average over 40 goals in that stretch he will stick around to try and break the record"

Post in thread 'Ovechkin is now halfway to Gretzky!' Ovechkin is now halfway to Gretzky!

It can be fun to read the old threads :) I was a doubter too predicting his total between 700-750. Mainly due to concerns for his health considering his physical play.

But I have to add that it was also sad to read some of the old posts knowing that some of those people have passed away since…

Wow I wasn't aware who has passed away since then.

Scoring is easier than it's ever been since Ovi got into the league. To be doing it at that age is insane though

I can't imagine a prime ovechkin in the league these past 4-5 years lol
I had season tickets to the Capitals during his third and fourth seasons. People know the numbers and everything, but I think some people forget what an absolutely dominant force he was on the ice. He could score through just sheer force of will.
