44 games to go.23 goals in 39 games to tie Wayne, can he do it? of course he can, but will he? we will see

i should have been more specific, if he does 23 in 39, then they would have the same amount of goals and games.44 games to go.
Ahhh….I see.im sorry,

Definitely. Are the goalies letting in soft goals though to help the gr8 beat the record? Hmm
In true NHL fashion I am certain they will just shrug their shoulders at trying to make sure all Caps games when he's close are televised "Sorry, nothing we can do about it".
Little bit supricing seeing Point with highest GPG, he should have had most PPG.... bad joke..41 goals in his last 58 games since he turned it around last season on January 27 versus Dallas.

My goodness! 51 games less then Jagr, but just 1 goal away!Would probably already by top 5 for most goals in an age 39 season if he didn't miss 16 games.

Well to be fair some of them died, but there's a lot of them who are just not showing up to get humiliated now that it's not up for debate anymore. But the most shameful ones are the ones who now say that they never doubted Ovechkin breaking the record, while there's a ton of evidence that they posted about how Ovechkin would never break the record just a few years back. It's funny because a lot of people said he'd never sniff the record and now that's he's close, some choose to not care or simply don't want him to break it.
I don't mean you in general but it is quite humorous reading different sites out there how much hate he gets.
Oh he definitely tops Howe but as we see the games played maybe it looks better he does it in under 70. Really though it showcases how bananas Jagr at 43 hitting 27 was.Would probably already by top 5 for most goals in an age 39 season if he didn't miss 16 games.

I was always hoping for this when he passed 600 but I am now believing more and more he's playing so well precisely because he wants to leave after this season. Obviously a contending team could change that but he went through so many seasons of his team doing well during the year only to lose in the playoffs, literally out of the 2nd round only once.I hope he stays around to get a Thousand goals....
Enjoy it while it lasts folks, we may never see a player like him again in our lifetimes

It can be fun to read the old threads I was a doubter too predicting his total between 700-750. Mainly due to concerns for his health considering his physical play.Sadly they were not true visionaries such as yourself Mulletman:
Ovechkin is now halfway to Gretzky!
With a goal against the Stars Ovechkin now has 447 goals in the NHL. That's exactly half of what Gretzky scored. It took Ovechkin 9 and a ½ seasons, or actually 9 seasons if you count the 2012-13 lockout, to score 447. Ovechkin still has about 13 and a ½ season of hockey left so the question...forums.hfboards.com
If they put Chris Chelios on the broadcast again, I'm going to be pissed. He really f***ed over the 800 callIn true NHL fashion I am certain they will just shrug their shoulders at trying to make sure all Caps games when hes close are televised "Sorry, nothing we can do about it".

Wow I wasn't aware who has passed away since then.It can be fun to read the old threads I was a doubter too predicting his total between 700-750. Mainly due to concerns for his health considering his physical play.
But I have to add that it was also sad to read some of the old posts knowing that some of those people have passed away since…
I had season tickets to the Capitals during his third and fourth seasons. People know the numbers and everything, but I think some people forget what an absolutely dominant force he was on the ice. He could score through just sheer force of will.Scoring is easier than it's ever been since Ovi got into the league. To be doing it at that age is insane though
I can't imagine a prime ovechkin in the league these past 4-5 years lol
