With the season now in the books, here are some more accomplishments by Ovechkin

- Ovechkin tied Howe in top5 finishes in goals (14 each) - with all due respect to Howe, finishing top5 in a six-team league was probably easier. Two more players in history (not surprisingly, both from the O6 era) have more than 10 top5 finishes: Richard and Bobby Hull (12 each). The next group sits at 8 top5 finishes (Gretzky, Bossy, Esposito).

- Ovechkin finished top20 in points for the 15th time in his career (Jagr, whose name is synonymous with longevity, finished top20 13 times). Outside of the O6 era, only two players have more top20 finishes in points: Dionne (16) and Gretzky (18).

- Speaking about top20 finishes, Ovechkin has finished top20 in goals in all his seasons (17). Yes, even in 2020/21, when Ovechkin missed 20% of games, he was still top20 in goals. The record is, of course, held by Howe (22 seasons), and even if we look at all players, including those from the O6 era, the highest number after Ovechkin is 14 top20 finishes in goals (Richard, Esposito, Mahovlich). That's how many top5 finishes Ovechkin has, by the way - 14.

And now we can switch to Ovechkin's PO milestones: just 3 more PO goals will make him 13th all-time, and 5 more goals will tie Lemieux.

Any update on his health?

He is fine, the NHL scheduled the FLA/WSH series last to ensure he gets maximum days to recover! We´ve seen this before with Ovi. Grimaging in pain, exciting the game. The big drama in the media, 10 Ovi health updates per day, condolences from people around the Caps org. And then he is back within a week or so and the story is about the grand miracle comeback.

Ah yes, Leonsis slipped Bettman a cheque under the table to ensure that the series starts on the 2nd day instead of the first one. How do you come up with this nonsense?

And there we have it, just like promised. It was almost a little cute how they all acted like Ovi was actually hurt! But I´ve seen the same script too many time to get fooled by it.

Buddy, the guys on your favourite team are always hurt, that’s why no one talks about it. Ovechkin rarely gets hurt, that’s why it draws attention.

That and the fact that the Caps’ playoff hopes are pretty much 100% on him. I don’t know why you go out of your way to be critical on something so trivial, give it a rest.

He is coming up with new things to whine about.

This is no longer relevant to the thread. I'm telling you as a site admin to move along.

Not as a site admin: if you honestly can't figure out that teams will rest players with small injuries near the end of the regular season when things are relatively settled, then perhaps you should watch more sports.

Or alternatively stop watching!

I think at this point the goals will come, the only question is how ugly it will get in terms of hurting his team in the end.

His hot start aside he isn't a positive player at ES anymore and that isn't going to get any better with age.

This season alone he has since Jan 1st a line of 41-24-13-37 (minus 15) and that minus partially hides the ENG and he is already playing 75% offensive zones starts at ES.

At some point the race for Gretzky's record is going to hurt even more than it does right now.

You should watch more Caps games. He basically IS the team. And sure, at 41 im sure he'll be a detriment if he is playing 19 minutes a game but he won't be.

Seriously dude?

But I guess that will get you the likes you want and deflect attention away from the stats right?

Here they are again and it's extremely clear that he is hurting the team at ES.

You're a funny guy.......:)
