Strome is a stud…sometimes patience pays off. The Caps are good this year. I think this is legit. The combination of Strome going supernova, Ovie and Wilson and Carlson turning back the clock, payoffs from their big buy-low summer moves and great development from their young guns…I think they executed the very hard to perform “retool around your aging stars” maneuver this summer to a level people weren’t ready for.

I still find it amazing the amount of free ice he gets out there and the disrespect from having someone NOT shadowing him. Mind you it's been happening for nearly 20 years, but still. How old were his linemates Strome And Protas when Ovechkin was drafted by the Caps?

Edit: Strome was 7, probably starting 2nd grade that fall. Protas was 3 years old.

I will actually say a word in defense of Wetcoast. I do disagree with some of his opinions, but I think that it's unfair to include him in the same sentence with the other two. I believe that Wetcoast does sincerely love hockey, and he doesn't hate Ovi, in contrast to the other two, in any shape. He just has a different view. There is nothing wrong to go against the grain sometimes.
