I do not belive that AO will play anywhere near 10 years more. 4-6 is more likely. And his decline will be fast and brutal.
Solid prediction.

Actually let's say 31 more goals this season if he hits 50. That takes him to 657 and leaves him 237 goals behind Gretzky.
237/7 seasons = 33.86 goals/season.
Nobody will ever match Gretzky in goals, assists or points. Ever.
Watch out. We have a bad azz here.So he's about as close as I am

Whatever, bad azz.I mean seriously only half way and his career is almost over. There's no chance.
When you have more assists than the next closest guy has points I'd say he wins forever. Crazy innit? There might be an outside possibility for goals (season or career) if the game ever becomes wide open again some day (guys like Bossy, both Hulls, and Lemieux might have been able to match season/career goal scoring totals with slightly better luck), but it's his assists and points (season and career records) that I think are nearly unbreakable. How many scoring titles did he win on assists alone? I remember hockey pools where his goals and assists had to be split up, whereas with everyone else you just took their point totals. 163 assists in his best season, and 1,963 assists over his career seem to be near impossible tasks going forward. After Gretzky and Lemieux, I think Steve Yzerman has the highest season point total with 155, and again, Gretzky once had 163 assists in a season - just staggering.

Very conservative imo, but I see your point. I look at a guy like Marleau, who scored 25, 27, and 27 goals from age 36-38. Ovi is twice the goalscorer that Marleau is, so if he stays in shape, I see no reason to think he couldn't score 30 a year at those ages.I'd say he needs 9 seasons after this one. If he gets 47 this season, it leaves him 240 goals behind and that's 26.67 goals/season.
So during this 9 seasons span he should score
First 3 seasons: 115 goals (38.33 goals average)
Next 3 seasons: 75 goals (25.00 goals average)
Last 3 seasons: 50 goals (16.67 goals average)
He might be able to score more but I think his role will be smaller (less ice time, PP specialist) when he starts getting older (in 4-5 years).
Imho those numbers seem totally plausible and if there won't be lockouts, he stays healthy and wants to play in NHL 9 more years, there is a chance. Selänne scored 26 goals in 82 games (2011-2012) when he was 41 years old. Ovie will be 41 when season 2026-2027 starts and that's the season number 8 of those listed 9 seasons.
He’s 268 away and is 33 years old, and the only significant time he’s missed has been due to lockouts.
If he plays 7 more seasons he’d have to average 38 goals to tie it, and for anyone else I’d say it’s a reach, but Ovi is Ovi, plus he’s a tank. I really see no reason why he can’t do it unless he goes to Russia at some point.
Ovechkin is the only player that I don’t mind to score against my team and boy it feels like I’ve seen alot of Ovechkin goals against the Habs.
I would love for him to break that record. It would be a huge deal for Russian hockey.
are you jerome iginla? So he's about as close as I am
Numbers are just that, numbers. He will go down as the greatest goal scorer of all time no matter what at this point.
Best post in the thread. He's already over 600. Thinking he wouldn't get 150 goals in 10ish years is crazy. 3.5 years later...LOL. 600 max and even that is unlikely.
