I am trying to think of last pure dipsy doodle guy with creativity as their main skills to win a Cup?

All that comes to mind was Gretz but he was creative on a different level with hockey IQ but he had a speed issue and he had a strength issue too like Mitch. But he got it done in playoffs.

Bobby Orr......he could do it all including killing a 2 minute penalty by himself with some fine dipsy doodling........

Also fastest man in hockey .. i think it was Espo who said da game was not fair when Bobby arrived because he made NHL look like a house league skate

Wrong Kaner can fly man .. once he puts you in mirror even Bure ain't catching him .. and Kaner has a massive crazy freak streak in him too where he will carve you up with his stick if he has to
Plus a rare set of hands to create open ice by himself and a laser of a wrister too.

The LA-Chicago series in 2014 when he put up 9 points in the final 3 games rallying Chicago from 3-1 down in the series was crazy beyond belief. That LA team was no joke either.

Yup your right i forgot how strong of a shot he had .. a laser for sure .. kinda forgot .. size does not mean strength that is for sure

They did a study awhile back (I think in 2015 or 2016) where they were trying to find out who has the best wrister in the league and I believe it was concluded that Kane scored a higher % of his wrist shots than any other player in the league at the time (Tarasenko was 2nd I believe).

I've never heard Gretzky called a dipsy doodler before. If you want dangling, Lemieux is your man. Gretzky is just simply the best passer to ever play the game and he was fantastic at most everything else to. But passing, nobody before or since is anywhere close.

Gretzky wasn't a dipsey doodler. He is the greatest offensive player of all tim. Scoring goals, setting plays, getting teammates good looks, running the offense from behind the goal line.

The only player close to matching his offensive IQ is Mario.

99 is like MJ in that he could play in any Era and dominate. Defenses couldn't see the plays he was making as he thought the game quicker than them. He had counters to good defense and was a high goal scorer himself when his linemates couldn't get the job done

I have some faith marner redeems himself next year but comparing him to basically any legend at this point is futile. Marner either pulls through and becomes a legend himself learning how to play winning hockey in the playoffs or he establishes himself as loser and a guy the leafs move on after 6 attempts to show he's a franchise winger.

Biggest season of his hockey career will be next year. Specifically from April onwards.

Luc Robitaille was slow but could shoot the nut off a gnat.

Gretzky had an all-time great clapper though, you had to respect his shot.

Neither Gomez nor Krejci were fleet of foot nor were they particularly great shooters, but they could snake through the NZ & OZ. Wouldn't really call them dipsy doodlers though. Ales Hemsky is the sort of guy who did that.
