They desperately need to keep McDavid happy in order to have any hope of keeping him long term, it's just how it is. Gretzky got the same treatment pretty much everywhere back in his day, he definitely had a posse and a lot of ''creative control'' on the rosters and managements . Michael Jordan was basically an assistant coach during most of his prime years, he called a lot of the plays himself and the coach just had to roll with it. Star players get a ton of leeway in pro sports.

FYI, Paul Coffey was already part of the organization as an advisor to the owners and management.

I didn't know that one. The Oilers are going down the trash with McDavid playing the diva.
Brown signed a 1 year deal for $4 million but $3.25 millon come in a performance bonus. The performance bonus is if he plays 10 games. The cap hit this year is only 775K but if hits the bonus the $3.25 million will be added to next year's cap. Right now he has only played 9 games so it will be seen if he gets his 10th game. One other interesting relationship is Jeff Jackson was also Brown's agent when he signed the deal before he became the CEO of the Oilers.

Did Mcdavid tell them to sign the one goalie in the market everyone knew had issues with his mental makeup back to his draft year?

Tis relocation time for the Flames and Oilers. Long term it just isn’t going to work anymore

With the new arena the Oilers agreed they will not relocate the franchise for 35 years (starting in 2013). Calgary is also building a new arena, they won’t relocate if that gets built.

Oilers a hot mess again. Some things just never change. They've never been able to have sustainable success with McDrai.

It's crazy that they fired everyone except their goalie coach. Goalies all suck. It's their biggest problem.
We saw it with Price, Weber/Subban, Petry. You can be great in one area of the ice but it makes no difference if you leave massive glaring holes in the others.
