Out of Town Thread - New Year’s 2025 Edition

Ottawa winning tonight is good. It will light a fire for the Devils to win against the Rangers on Saturday.

Rangers and devils usually dont need anything to get ready for each other.

What do the sens winning have anything to do with this? The sens cant take their spot even if they have more points.

Ottawa and Montreal now closer to NJ. If NJ loses to NYR and get overtaken by NYR, they may drop out of the playoffs altogether.

I can’t see New Jersey dropping out. They have an easy schedule left. 5 of their 6 games left are at home and all are against teams not in a playoff spot, including two against Boston.

Wouldn't be surprised if Blues went on a run to the finals. Thomas/Kyrou is like having two Suzukis. Fowler has been excellent, Holloway/Broberg are key pieces, Binnington looks awesome, Buch/Schenn/Bolduc/Neighbours are providing secondary scoring, and Parayko is back soon.

Ducks are atrocious.

Been like 7 years of hearing how amazing their scouts are and they've had way more draft power than us, yet....
Anaheim has good individual talents, but they don't know how to win and doesn't seems to have that team structure required to win against competent teams. They lack the veterans presence to show how it's done to all their young players. Who Carlsson and McTavish can look up to in their locker room?! lol certainly not Jacob Trouba for sure.

They are the Buffalo Sabres of the West... that's why good veterans are always important in a rebuilding process... and you need 3 or 4 of them with good leadership qualities in those kind of team to show the proper way to those kids. Just like good parenting in real life.

I bet EDM is regretting having Holloway leave...lol

One of the worst summers Ive ever seen from a management group. They lost key young players that they could have signed for peanuts and got almost nothing in return. They acquired older, slower players. They didn't upgrade the goaltending position even as Ullmark was available. A good GM could have upgraded them and made them the cup favorites for this year.

That they signed the vets before the kids received offersheets is the craziest part of it.

Exactly. I think most management teams sit down and actually consider the possibility of offer sheets. Even fans online knew this could happen to Holloway and Broberg. I don't know why Draisaitl resigned and if I'm McDavid, I'd leave in an instant.

Word is Greg Cronin is a Therrien prototype. He's going to make Carlsson and McTavish into better persons :sarcasm: . Feel bad for Leo, I wanted him to fall to us in 2025.

The chance for Montreal to overtake NJ are extremely slim. There's only 7 games remaining.

We would need to be 6-1 in our last 7 games and NJ 2-3-1 (or worse) in their last 6. NJ is 5-4-1 in their last 10 and we are 5-3-2 in our last 10.

Here's NJ schedule

NYR
Boston
Pens
NYI
Boston
Detroit

If they can't win 3 of those games i'll be very surprised.
