Out of Town Thread - New Year’s 2025 Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

    Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. Dylan Holloway now has 57 points rofl

When the offer sheet were made my position was Edmonton had to match and pay picks to get rid of their deadwood. I was sure 200% not matching was a mistake cause Broberg and Holloway were both important player for their previous cup run but man i would have never guessed Holloway would finish with 60 points lol What a shit show.

I was very bullish on Holloway and like you, saw the offer sheet decision as a foolish one by the Oilers.

For as much as playing on a roster with elite talent like McD & Drai can & does inflate some players stats, it can also have a downward pressure on other players (pressure to play extra conservative and leave the scoring to the top lines).

It is shocking how badly Edm handled last summer... Their internal & external pro scouting did an atrocious job. Broberg & Holloway should've been locked up with term instead of throwing short term money at middling vets... With McD & Bouchard about to break the bank, and one of the worst prospect pools in the league, Oilers are at serious risk of turning McD into hockey's Dan Marino.

Goes to show that the competency level of some pro GMs is nothing special
