Yeah, that's why Vancouver ultimately decided to ship him out. It wasn't a great pass by K. Miller, but JT didn't stick with it either. He's skating away from the pass. Then decided not to backcheck.

His effort waivers brutally.
Vancouver has to start from scratch. Needs to get rid of Pettersson too.

I think they'd like, but there's definite concern about being able to resign Hughes in 2 years if things go south. He's not going to want to go through a rebuild and made it clear he wants to win. He signed a 6 year contract after his ELC not 8. Summer 2026 they can start negotiations with him, and every Canucks fan I know are praying he doesn't take the M. Tkachuk route.

They basically have to sit down with hughes to see what he wants to see the team do and go from there.

Guys like him don't grow on trees and your best chance to do something big is with him in a Canucks uniform.

They have to find a way to reload the way Washington has done.

Imagine being Marner and having the team ask you to lift your NMC to trade you for Rantanen..
Would you still be fine signing an extension in the summer?
I'd say you MFers, personally...will be interesting.

Toronto expressed interest in getting down to business on a contract extension in recent months, but the Marner camp was unwilling to engage during the season, according to league sources.

The Leafs wanted to sign a player who already sits fifth in franchise history in scoring for what remains of his prime and beyond. Marner wasn’t ready to make that commitment before Friday’s trade deadline passed — not with a world of opportunity potentially ready to unfold before him this summer.

When I watch Ottawa I'm quite convinced they're a playoff team. They're better than NYR, Detroit, CBJ and Us right now.

I have to admit, there's a part of me that wants to see the Sens take WC1. A Sens-Leafs 1st round would be loads of fun and drama.

If Montreal can't get in then CBJ to take WC2. CBJ vs Washington would also be a good series.
