No perfect outcome in the Ottawa/NYR game, but I'd prefer NYR win. That way, assuming we win, we're narrowly ahead of Ottawa and are 1 point under NYR, with the same number of games.
Yep, the better outcome is for NYR to win.

But realistically, it won't matter. Habs aren't making the playoffs.

I think the Habs have more games left with Ottawa. They might even be done with nyr at this point so from a "controlling your destiny" standpoint, you probably want NYR to win too.

Plus I've already projected that nyr are going to take one of the WC spots, regardless so I don't even look at them as much.

I have to disagree here. We have 2 games left against Ottawa, that means we can knock them back twice with 2 four points game. That's control we have. We don't have any games left against the Rangers, meaning 0 control. If they get 2 points, we can't do anything about it. Worst outcome for the Habs is a win by the Rangers in overtime.

It looks like the Flyers will be out of the mix with another loss and 18 games left. I don't see how they could line up all the wins necessary to come out from under .500 after this.

Always fun to laugh at the laffs...

But losing to any team in the NHL has zero relation to being a contender.

Last March/April, the Panthers lost to the flyers & Habs... And had a 4- game losing streak while going 12-10 heading into playoffs.
I learned that lesson in the 1981 when the expos were neck and neck with the Phillies in late August, the Phillies lost to some bad team like 10-0 and I said to my dad that there was no way the Phillies were legit contenders. Then like 2 days later the Expos got waxed 14-0 or something. And the Phillies won the World Series haha
