Looking at the season Holloway and Broberg have man the Oilers GM looks bad. Those two would be a lot more useful than Arvidsson and Skinner. Holloway was one of their best player in playoffs and he played with heart still don't get the move. Should have matched.

Maybe, there's also the element of do you really want to match on guys who have taken a pretty significant action that shows they might not want to be part of your team anymore.

Holloway said he almost didn’t sign even though Edmonton was barely even negotiating with him and lowballing him. He expected them to match and wasn’t happy to leave.

It was pure incompetence that both left. They would fit the oilers very well. They're paying Arvidsson and Skinner 7M. They had ample space to sign both of them. Just brutal.
