I know it's one game and I get Avs didn't want to give Mikko 14 mill, but my God, Drouin and Necas are both periphery-playing cupcakes. Nate and Makar are amazing and it looked like a pp when they were on the ice...hopefully it turns around for them...
as for the B's, lol, just call them the Boston Pastnaks - and whoever is playing with him. Such a garbage team that plays low-event hockey, but hey they get it done. They'll keep patching the holes, but may their descent be long, slow and painful.
I also never ever want to hear a bruins fan bitch about the officiating; two egregious calls missed in the last 4 mins...marchand reverse interference on Colton in front of the ref with the puck nowhere to be seen, and a trip in the offensive zone that was ignored.
ok whining over

Avs lost all their dogs Kadri, Byram, Rantanen, Landeskog(ltir)

0 bite left Drouin & Necas in LaLaland on both Bruins goals.

Close their window now it's over.
And Rantanen ain't scoring 50g and 100 pts without Mack and Makar either lol and the Canes have to pay him 14M to keep him, but they'll now be overpaying for 8 years

I'm pleased with the entire outcome on all sides honestly lol

I love the trade for Carolina.

But looking back on the past two trade deadlines, why the hell didn't they sign Guentzel?

All things considered Guentzel at 9m per for 7 (maybe carolina could have got him for 8x8??) is a way more valuable asset than Rantanen at 12-14 or whatever he gets.

If they're just renting these players just to lose them in the offseason, thats pretty dumb.

Lebrun posted that the Avs preferred Drury's upside
Doubt it's true. Drury is almost half a year older than JK and has not done much so far. They prefered the contract imo.

If they could not sign Rantanen trading him was the right move. But i'm not sure the right trade was made. would not like it if i was an Avs fan.

From Lebrun's article :
Tulsky was thrown into the fire last offseason after taking over as GM for the departed Don Waddell. He had a short runway to get pending unrestricted free agent Jake Guentzel re-signed. There were probably some valuable lessons in that exercise for a first-time GM like Tulsky. The Canes ended up getting to the number that Guentzel’s camp more or less wanted, but it took so long that July 1 was days away and it was too hard for Guentzel to resist talking to other teams. And, well, we know how that ended: with Guentzel’s rights traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning during the draft.

The lesson isn't too difficult to learn, you have no leverage on a UFA player. Doesn't surprise me though, given Carolina's owner.
