Florida and Tampa in the Atlantic division stick out like a sore thumb on the map.

They are closer to the metro teams than the atlantic teams. I think they were placed in the atlantic simply for better home gates against teams like boston, toronto, and montreal.

That's definitely why they did it. There's a reason Montreal is always down there around New Year's, because that's when all the Quebec snowbirds are there.

Just saw that TSN is asking Meghan Chayka to analyze the new Leafs acquisition, Darren Raddysh.

I thought... "Chayka"? What are the odds? Then I googled her.

1- She has a business in hockey analytics, which I guess makes her competent. Nothing wrong here.

2- She's a 10 out of 10. Again, nothing wrong here. Good for ratings I guess.

3- She's John Chayka's sister. Now, I have a problem with that. Toronto medias asking the GM's sister to have an unbiased opinion on her brother hockey moves? That's a total lack of journalism ethics. The least TSN can do is ask her NOT to comment on any Leafs moves. Come on...
Journalism, come on, this isn't important, it's hockey for Pete's sake. Who cares....

So after the moves over the last week what does an Atlantic Divison power ranking look like?

1. Florida
2. Montreal
3. Buffalo
4. Tampa Bay
5. Boston
6. Toronto
7. Ottawa
8. Detroit (assuming Larkin gets traded)

I would have Toronto over Boston, but unless Ottawa makes another move they're not going to have the offense to do much.

Montreal & Buffalo will be neck & neck. They split the season series and Montreal won a really close playoff series.

Unless Hedman comes back and plays a lot better - Ditto Point - I do think TB takes a step back. But, we'll see. Brisebois will make a move.

Looks like there was actually something to the infamous Tkatchuk podcast where he bashed his own teammate and talked about his contract running out soon.

You wish lol.

To Florida:
  • Jacob Fowler (he's a Florida local boy)
  • Owen Beck
  • Kirby Dach
  • 2nd round pick 2027

To Montreal:
  • Anton Lundell
  • E. Luostarinen
I’d do that yesterday, don’t think Florida does though. If they weren’t willing to sacrifice Lundell for Brady, they sure won’t for that package.

That is a pretty good guess, I like that one. Ottawa is certainly preparing a move.
I feel for them but at this point they should just retool. Trade Chabot and Ullmark, try to turn around within the next 2-3 years with Stutzle and Sanderson. If they spend futures to compete now it won’t end well for them.

If I’m a Canadian team’s GM I stop trying to acquire American players, they don’t wanna stay here.

The next player I wonder about is Matthews. He’s got two years left on his contract. Does he want to move South as well? Does Toronto hang on to him too long like they did with Marner?
