HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

It was his last playoffs with the Habs where he looked really bad. Radulov outscored and outplayed him. Habs lost a very frustrating series to the Rangers, scoring basically no goals.

He didn’t work well with Plekanec either. Both were Hustle players who couldn’t make plays without brute-forcing efforts. This is why DD was good for him, DD had flair and a soft touch (pretty bad everything else).

One could imagine how good a prime Pacioretty would look with a talented playmaker.

I wanted him early in the summer too, as a depth player and a character guy. Happy he has his career back, hope the upcoming loss doesn’t crush him.
He never played with a 1st line center.

DD was a AHL player. He did not have the attributes to play on a 3rd line and was not skilled enough to play in a top 6. He was carried by patch big time.

Danault was a good defensive 2nd line center able to score 20 goals but he was certainly not a playmaking 1st line center. It did not impact Radulov as much as Patch cause Radulov was not a finisher but a player driving the play.

Criticizing Pacioretty is silly. Like Koivu he was playing a role that was over his head. In his prime he should be your 3rd best forward on a championship team, especially good at scoring even-strength goals.
Yeah... wrong role. I always felt bad for him. He was a good player but was never THE player. It's unfortunate because if he had a good supporting cast he would have been a fan favorite. He was a very good player in Vegas.

Pacioretty was not the best captain but he was a very good player and on a team like the leafs or Vegas he is a great weapon. Habs never had the superstar to pair him with.
Man... what if he had an actual elite 1C to play with? He definitely would've reached another level. I was very critical of him when he was in Montreal but damn, he only had Desharnais as his center and he still scored a bunch of goals.

People forget that in his last 30 goal season with us (35 iirc), he scored like 2/3 of his goals against bottom 10 teams, and while he wasn't paired up with a good centerman, he nevertheless had some great help from two awesome PMDs. In the handful of seasons where we had both Markov and Subban in the lineup, they assisted on 60+% of Patioready's goals. I remember him not only as Patioready, but also as Poutyready. Still, with a coach like Therrien, i would've been pouty too. That part is understandable.

I don’t think it’ll be difficult at all for the Cats to go back to Toronto and do something they’ve already done 4 out of 6 times in these last 2 playoff series
Gotta wonder what was going on with the Leafs the two previous games. Last night was night-and-day, like watching a different team. I'm seriously wondering if they were sick earlier in the week. We joke about the Leafs' lack of heart, but they passed the test last night, just like Florida failed the heart-test by being shutout in an elimination game in front of their fans.

Florida can play a stronger game-7, but it may not matter if Toronto plays the same way, this time at home.

I have to admit having some sympathy for long-suffering Leafs fans, just like I'm developing a real dislike for the Panthers' dirty players. Weird to say, but I didn't mind last night's results!

Toronto are setting themselves for a match 7 loss for maximum disappointment lol (i still hope they win and go lose against the Oilers in the Finals)
Wasn't that Charles Barkley's prediction too lol? I'd love to see the Leafs make it all the way to Finals only to lose to a Canadian team, but not just any Canadian team, McDavid and his ragtag gang of bozos lmao

Terrible news. Apparently, it was unexpected. My dad died of a heart attack. I went into shock during the phone call then sobbed like a baby. I managed to pull myself together to get ready to go home as I was living on the west coast. My family was in Ontario. I got to the airport, sat down & started sobbing like a baby again.

I wish him the best. He seems like an emotional guy, so I'm sure he's going through it. RIP, Mr. Scheifele.
