HF Habs: Out of Town Thread: 2025 Playoff edition

Wait, Bergevin?!
I think most of the chit-chat has been "journalists" speculations. They have been throwing whomever at the wall since Lou was removed from office.

But someone like Gorton has no reasons to leave his current position with the Habs. He's already POHO for the Habs despite the "vice" in his title.

He might if the contract make sense, it would suck for us tho.
It would not, if the front office collapses because of Gorton leaving, I'd think of fixing our front office before it breaks down.

I don't think that'll happen, but it's like removing the training wheels on a bike to see your kid finally figure it out.

He's from New York and the Isles are in New York? Besides, if I'm not mistaken, he has no contractual engagements with the Habs. His job is a job right?

Gorton signed a contract to work for the Habs, Friedman believed it was a 5 years contract 3 years ago, but it could be longer. Either way, he is still under contract for next season with the Habs, so the Isles would need to ask the Habs to be allowed to talk to Gorton.

I distinctively remember a journalist asking him the question how long was his contract when they hired him and his answer was there wasn't any.

There is always a contract, that's what define salary and work conditions, but it doesn't need a term limit. Since it was officially called long term (the 5 years is speculation from Friedman), maybe Gorton's contract doesn't have a term limit.

At the onset there wasn’t but afterward there could’ve been

I think there was

Yes that's what I meant, no closed terms as opposed to everyone else in society. We're always on opened terms or somewhat opened terms depending on the civil code.
