They picked him up during pre-season waivers during the shortened Covid season of 2021 when we were in the Canadian Division. They had priority over us despite earning more points in the previous regular season because they lost in the play-ins to NYI, while Montreal beat the Pens. Montreal therefore ended 16th while Florida finished 12th. The Panthers drafted before us in the 2020 draft (Anton Lundell) and had pre-season waiver draft priority over Montreal due to that win over Pens.

Whether or not we would have picked him up is not certain our D at that time was: Weber, Chiarot, Petry, Edmundson, Romanov and Kulak. We had Mete, but I believe we lost him on waivers that season, too. Weber was on his way out, so it certainly would have helped us that season if we had grabbed him. We never got the chance, though.

Still, Chicago waived him and 10 other teams passed over him.
