Seems very dubious that the deferred salary isn't part of the caphit. Like can we not just sign Evans to an 8 year 58m deal but have 50m deferred after the 8 years so the caphit is actually 1m. Evans gets more money then he otherwise could, we get him at a stupid discount. How is it not cap circumvention.

Same here. Knies was practically the Leafs' best player last playoffs.

I've also always liked Rielly. Poor guy's been forced to play over his head as their #1D. He's probably been there longer than anyone on the roster and has remained a hardworking anchor through bad times and good. Only one notable stain on his record: that suspension last year when he lost his mind for a moment - lol!.
