“I have never seen such disrespect for other people in my entire life” - Andrei Nikolishin, Washington Capitals scout, on Michkov's refusal to communicate with other clubs.
Avs outshot by SJ but Blackwood is there.
.938 in 3gp
Avs win all their trades.
I absolutely think they picked Reinbacher because he was the best prospect for them when all things were taken into account.I hope it isn’t true that Kent Hughes super GM got bullied by a 18 year old or had his lunch ate by friggin Danny Brière
I hope they picked Reinbacher because he was the best possible prospect for the Habs in their eyes
And at the time Michkov still had 3 years left on his KHL contract. No one knew he would get out of his contract a year later.I absolutely think they picked Reinbacher because he was the best prospect for them when all things were taken into account.
But I've seen you make this comment about Hughes being 'bullied' by Michkov and I really don't understand. If it is true that that he wanted to play somewhere else and/or didn't want to play here, why in the hell would you use your 5th overall pick on him? That would be a monumentally dumb decision as you run the risk of him being disgruntled or bolting at the first opportunity.
Some amusing that Avs goaltending has gotten better now that it's made of wood.He is a very good goalie and he is finally playing on a really good team. This changes Colorado.
Kudos to their GM for finding a way to get both Blackwood and Wedgewood to replace Georgiev and Annunen.
Or they only made that information available to select teams (i.e. Philadelphia)And at the time Michkov still had 3 years left on his KHL contract. No one knew he would get out of his contract a year later.
That's like saying Chevaldayoff failed because he couldn't get McGroarty to sign with the jetsAgain, why and how did Michkov rule out Montreal?
Was he going to be the first player since Lindros to refuse to report?
If the Habs couldn't convince a young Russian superstar to at least consider the possibility of playing in Montreal then they failed at their jobs
This kind of unhealthy posting is what gets you a therapy session with @WeThreeKings
I think this as wellI absolutely think they picked Reinbacher because he was the best prospect for them when all things were taken into account.
If he’s the best prospect available you have to pick him.But I've seen you make this comment about Hughes being 'bullied' by Michkov and I really don't understand. If it is true that that he wanted to play somewhere else and/or didn't want to play here, why in the hell would you use your 5th overall pick on him?
This is the risk for Canadian teams drafting Americans more than it is anything else but it’s not exclusive to this case. That would be a monumentally dumb decision as you run the risk of him being disgruntled or bolting at the first opportunity.
Something we will never know. I hope Michkov has a great career but in retrospect I understand why the Habs steered clear. Right or wrong they picked the player they wanted. I am fully on the DR bandwagon! So what do you guys think would have happened if we drafted Michkov against his wishes?
Would he have re-signed in the KHL until he was 27, or would we have been able to spend 3 years showering him with gifts getting him to come over?
Can I vent on the extreme Michkov crowd (not all)? It bugs me that any take that’s not that the team is doomed having not picked Michkov is whitewashing management… Everything’s not black and white.
It was actually just a stylistic device to try to make my post more interesting. You can vent on anything you want......this a message boards
Is it not the first time it happens? Don't remember any similar case. At the time it really looked like he would be in russia for at least 3 years maybe more like Kaprisov, Kuznetsov and Tarasenko. And at the time Michkov still had 3 years left on his KHL contract. No one knew he would get out of his contract a year later.
I would take a fully developed Kaprizov, Kuznetsov, or Tarasenko on an ELC when the rest of the roster is rounded out tbh but I see the downside risk if they thought he would fulfil his whole 3 years. Is it not the first time it happens? Don't remember any similar case. At the time it really looked like he would be in russia for at least 3 years maybe more like Kaprisov, Kuznetsov and Tarasenko.
From my memory, it's the first time it happened. Even back when the only option was to defect to come play in NA, I think they finished their contract first. Is it not the first time it happens? Because it's so extremely rare that you'd figure the team and the player would find a way to make it work before they divorce, so there is not much reason to take the lesser prospect. McGroarty and Cutter Gauthier's issues were both with wanting to come to the NHL sooner rather than later -- and it isn't a coincidence they were NCAA players. For the Habs NCAA + American is a riskier prospect combo than Russian imo, and remains so.I've seen a few people write that even if Michkov didn't want to play here, you take him anyway so he becomes a tradeable asset.
I am wondering what value a player has when he refuses to play for the team that owns their rights? Especially when it's a prospect not even playing in NA.
If it is true that Michkov did what he can to force his way to Philly, then the habs made the best decision by taking the next best player they thought was available. It would have been a wasted top 5 pick to have a selected a player that would possibly refuse to play for you.
How is the habs fault for not convicing a human being to play there? This is such a reach.Anyway the news today is nothing new. If the Habs didn't do enough to entice the BPA of their project, that's on the Habs too. You gotta put your ego aside and make the best move for the organization.
You're describing a situation that happens extremely rarely that it basically does not happen. It's not worth arguing about a hypothetical hypothetical. Talk about a reach. How is the habs fault for not convicing a human being to play there? This is such a reach.
I'd be pissed the Montreal Canadiens picked a clear B option because they couldn't "convince" their A option to accept being drafted by them (even though the prospect has no say in who drafts him). Thankfully this didn't happen and the Habs picked their A option, David Reinbacher.Personally I’d be pissed to waste a top 5 pick on a player who didn’t want to be here only to trade him for cents on the dollar.
With all these reports, you still have to try and be right OMFG. Spoiler alert, you're not, it would have been a waste and the only place you could have traded him was Flyers? You're describing a situation that happens extremely rarely that it basically does not happen. Some people just don't understand team and organization dynamics. On a video game it all works so much easier lol
