“I have never seen such disrespect for other people in my entire life” - Andrei Nikolishin, Washington Capitals scout, on Michkov's refusal to communicate with other clubs.

Nikolishin was never one to make bold comments during his nhl career, at least that I can recall, so this is kind of surprising coming from him.

We've seen the smoke but has any other club rep explicitly spoken negatively about the way michkov handled his draft affairs? This is the only one I can think of.

Some people just don't understand team and organization dynamics. On a video game it all works so much easier lol

The bolded is a phrase that you use so often on here ........it's almost look like you think you know better than everybody else........ frankly you should stop that cuz it's not a good look on you and don't even mean that you're right.

Nothing is never black or white you know ;)

I've seen a few people write that even if Michkov didn't want to play here, you take him anyway so he becomes a tradeable asset.

I am wondering what value a player has when he refuses to play for the team that owns their rights? Especially when it's a prospect not even playing in NA.

If it is true that Michkov did what he can to force his way to Philly, then the habs made the best decision by taking the next best player they thought was available. It would have been a wasted top 5 pick to have a selected a player that would possibly refuse to play for you.
The question they needed to answer is if they take Michkov could they get a return bettre than Reinbacher. I think they rightly decided it would be difficult and an aggravation they didn't need. Now if Michkov was far and away better than their next choice you might do it and take your chances,

There was some comments about Michkov's attitude from the Coyotes right after that draft, but I think most team managements can't be bothered to play that game and their PR team wouldn't let them anyway.

Well, yes, some posters do have more experience with certain things than others.

There are right and wrong answers to some questions, and there most certainly are "better" and "worse" arguments.

Not all opinions are as well grounded or as well informed.

Have a take, don't suck. If you disagree with my take, by all means offer your counterargument.

If you're looking for participation ribbons or validation of poorly formed opinions, message board might not be the best place to hang out :dunno:

Always was

Bruins overpaid their part time goalie big time. Guy can't handle the load.

Is that measured by the career average of Swayman and then every goal over that is an unexpected goal against, or does someone supposedly watch every game and determine whether a shot goes in, or not if it should have, or not?

It's based on xGF against (which is a stats based on shot quality and is taken by someone during games) vs goal(s) let in by the goalie for that game. The stat in that specific table is the addition for all the games so far.

If a teams is shit at stopping high danges chances, their goalies will have poor "goal saved above expected" in general.

Again, why and how did Michkov rule out Montreal?

Was he going to be the first player since Lindros to refuse to report?

If the Habs couldn't convince a young Russian superstar to at least consider the possibility of playing in Montreal then they failed at their jobs

This kind of unhealthy posting is what gets you a therapy session with @WeThreeKings

Michkov's dad was a Philadelphia Flyers fan. It really just came down to that. His dad died a couple of months before he was drafted.

Teams aren't going to draft a player who doesn't want to play with them & try to "force" a player to accept it/like it. All it does it start an important relationship off poorly. It doesn't resolve anything. You just end up trading that player later.

If Arizona wasn't between Montreal & Philadelphia, Montreal probably trades down. But, they were and Arizona was going to take Reinbacher, so Montreal couldn't move.

That's a bit dramatic. I mean Lindros & Jagr both did the same thing during their draft year.

I believe Michkov refused to meet some teams that he didn't feel were in a position to draft him. He refused to meet with Arizona. Montreal got a small interview on draft day.

As far as the Caps went, I don't think he was interested in following in Ovechkin's foot steps.

We know he didn't meet with the Ducks and Jackets, but it was never reported he refused to meet them. It was pretty clear that the Ducks & Jackets were locked-in on Carlsson and Fantilli. Mike Grier commented on not taking Michkov, but never said he refused to meet them.

Is management being bullied the new narrative now ?

It went from the reports of Michkov manipulating where he wanted to be drafted being a complete fabrication despite dozens of reports (that have now been confirmed by Friedman and multiple other reporters) to that ? How lame.

I like the idea that someone can also be convinced of anything, like an NPC giving a persuasion check in a video game. What a weird world view.

He missed training camp. That was just a dumb play by Bruins. He probably gets better in 2nd half. He is a good goalie.
Missing training camp is not an excuse imo.

He played 24 games already, how many do you need to get back in the groove?

Grier mentioned they had some concerns, but didn't elaborate. Bobrov just talked about how Reinbacher fit more in the culture they were trying to build than "others".

Man, Nichushkin may be a drug addled, prostitute-seeking boozer, but he sure can score in a beastly manner. He's already at 10 goals on the season.
I was thinking that when I watched those highlights earlier this week. Dude just came off a 2 year bender and already has 10 goals, what? Imagine if he didn't have addiction problems how dominant he could have been. What a shame.

Mackinnon has a sinister looking old man that’s always in Nichushkin’s sight lines. For obvious reasons Chush isn’t 100% sure the old man is real, but for the time being he is not going to upset the sinister old man

At the detriment of former hab Lehkonen who lost his spot alongside MacKinnon and Rantanen.

It's actually insane how many passengers the avs roster has.
