The Out of Town Thread is a sacred place where we gather to rip on the Leafs, lol at Makar breaking ankles, and 😍 when Michkov shows WJC-bound Bedard the what what in OT.

Take the performative whining, pearl clutching, and T. Carlson impressions over rumours, previous draft lists, and mysterious overseas deaths to management-related threads.

Apples to oranges

MB ran the Habs
Sergachev was a hab

Makes sense that posters on a Habs board discuss Habs related hockey stuff.

Michkov has zero relation to the Habs. He's one of hundreds of active NHLers that we didn't draft. The obsessive need to bring up his name every time he scores a point is pretty silly, even in the out of town thread.

Missing on a player in the draft has always been something most Habs fans liked to discuss, remember the Wickeinheiseir over Denis Savard, Napier over Bossy, Kostityn over Getzlaf and more recently and still talked about on this board KK over Thachuck.

Why should it be different with Reinbacher over Michkov.

The only reason i can think of, is beceause some here dont want to read about ''possible'' mistake made by this current Management staff.

There are many draft threads for that.

Out of town thread isn't about "Reinbacher over Michkov", now is it?

Nah... It's the obsessive need to rehash the same point every time a player not picked by us that seems unnecessary.

If a poster was commenting incessantly on Claude Giroux every time he scores (& what could've been instead of fisher), I'm sure you'd see the same irritation...

Michkov means very little to most posters, for whatever reason a few obsessing on him get something out of clogging up threads with irrelevant posts about him. Great young player, one of many that the Habs happened to not draft

Maybe you're right, since it was a decision impacting the rebuild these discussion should be more in ''the ''state of the rebuild thread''

Not so sure about that.

"Most" ... from what I can tell, there's a very small group of posters who keep posting about him (in several threads until mods started cracking down on them). After that, some other posters do get sucked in replying but otherwise I don't see his name brought up.

Geez, are you serious :laugh::laugh:, censored much.

Do you think it could be ''acceptable'' to discuss such thing as a draft choice made by Habs management in the ''state of the rebuild'' thread in HFHabs, i would be incline to say it should......what about you.

Sure... Though I don't really see much point in repeating the same take every time a player we didn't select scores a point or has a big dump :dunno:

I thought then, like I think now, that Habs should always draft defensemen ahead of forwards. It's a more impactful position both on the ice and in terms of blue chip trade potential.

Michkov might end up with a fine career, but Canadiens have sufficient small talented wingers that I'm doubting he would move the competitive needle on our team all that much. Maybe more entertaining, yes, but I want wins too.

We can only hope that Rein turns into a bona fide #1 stud eventually. Ultimately impact D man > impact forward (unless your name is Patrice Bergeron). Ie Cale Makar > Nathan Mackinnon

See, this is precisely why I'm so insistent about this. You're a thoughtful commentator but you have blinders on with this topic and you're not the only one. The Habs didn't pick Michkov and he's smoking the league, so you and many others have constructed a rickety unwarranted rhetorical structure to justify why this has happened... but it wasn't NEVER necessary to get to this point.

Reinbacher was a fair enough pick at 5OA. The Habs had many reasons to pick Michkov... but many reasons to pick Reinbacher over Michkov: RD being a position of need, Michkov's contract in the KHL, Michkov's size+speed. All of it is on the table right there and HuGoBo said as much... and many of these factual arguments were insisted upon by many commentators here who blindly support HuGo's work. This is why I like to serve them their own factual, rational arguments back to them they force fed it to all of us, so it's just desserts. The conspiracy nonsense is simply not necessary. It's post-hoc cope.

Now, IF HuGo got their evaluation of Michkov's upside wrong, that's fine too, it happens and we should razz them for it without melting down. But if they got Reinbacher wrong, it'll be tough to swallow. We won't know that for a few more years at the earliest. Hopefully they didn't get it wrong.
Michkov probably didn't want to play here and pissed Hughes off. I would say. Reinbacher an average player but plays valuable position
