Ovie's chase reminds me so much of Hank Aaron in 1973, who was 39 that year too. Aaron started that season 41 home runs behind Babe Ruth's 714. He hit 40 that summer to finish one short, had to wait until the following April to pass the Bambino. Ovie's on pace to take a good run at the record this season.

Cannot believe Ovechkin man
Just wow

Of all years to have another heater of all heaters and it's his age 39 season in the midst of breaking a once thought unbreakable Gretzky record
But not just any record
The GOAL record
I'm in total awe being able to see this

You would think he'd be dying down, maybe a couple 20g , 17g seasons, creeping to the record, hoping he makes it at 41 or 42 or something

But if he scores 40-50 goals at this age, to pass 894 and create the 900 Goal club I mean..
Hats off big guy, rooting for you BIGtime

Honestly that is how I want him to do it. Before this season I was like, meh, he may do 2 seasons to get the 40 goals he needed, kinda boring really, but this is exciting and out of this world :)

I'm thinking if everything hits, he's a Shea Weber type.

He's no where near that physical or good defensively. He also has better mobility than Weber.

He's a good prospect, but I also don't see him getting Norris consideration ever. He's more Morgan Rielly to John Carlson type. He & Sanderson are a likely future pairing.

Other than Silayev, I loved Sam Dickinson from that draft and I still do. If only Kenny could've swooped up to get him somehow.

I’ll take Protas over Drouin, Newhook, Beck, Messi, Roy and even Dach type player.
There's no guarantee he even finishes the year with more than 45 points despite his hot start. Strome isn't going to be a 100+ point guy either, Caps aren't that bad but definitely going to fall about to earth a bit. Pretty odd to have him as the ideal player to go after IMO.

No one cares
I was physically training too hard and my heart electrical system shut down. I woke up in ICU. Died twice, once at the gym and once in the ambulance. An off duty policeman in the gym saved my life.
Wow, Tyson, you are a walking miracle! Yes, I believe in those, and I'm not ashamed to say it. I have to ask you, how long did both incidents last? I'm also curious if you sensed anything during that time or if you have no recollection of any of it.

No recollection...I crashed head first into the treadmill. I had zero issues cholesterol wise, arteries were clear but I was doing a workout we use to do when I was in the military and evidently I got my heart up so high that the electrical impulses got out of whack and somehow one of the valves in my heart malfunctioned. I woke up in ICU 3 days later. Once I came to the Cardiologist says to me..."welcome to the 5% club"...I asked what he meant...he said only 5 % survive what happened to me. Ironically in a room next to mine there was a guy who was still unconscious (later died) from the same issue. I have had no issues since but of course it is always in the back of my mind.
