Yep. Price consistently beat better teams in the playoffs. As impressive as his regular season accomplishments are, he's even better in the postseason. First player over 10m to win multiple postseason rounds I believe... or at least he used to be and did it on some brutal clubs. Worth every dollar.

Him leading the club to the finals against those clubs in 21 was insane. HOF without a doubt and I hope he gets in first ballot. Only four can go in next year: Thornton, Keith, Chara, Price, Getzlaf and Rask. I think he makes it over Getzlaf and Rask but it's not going to be easy. He's got better Hart finishes than Getzlaf and better Hart and Vezina finishes than Rask - and he beat Rask h2h in a huge playoff upset. He's got a shot at first ballot but it won't be easy, that HOF class is stacked.

Helleybuck is a great goalie and needs to figure it out in the postseason. I think he'll do it sooner or later, he's too good not to.

There’s no debate for Rask being ahead of Price under any metric aside from career save percentage. No hardware. He doesn’t even beat Price whose career was shortened due to injuries on longevity. Rask is not first ballot. Carey should get in next year no problem.

I think you’re right on that. Getlaf is interesting though. He’s got a cup and had a long career. Price has better Hart placements though and Getlaf only appears in scoring top ten three times. I think Carey has a better case.

Keith, Chara and at Thornton are no brainers. Long careers with lots of accolades. Keith was named a top 100 player (criminally Pierre Pilotte was not) so he’s in. Thornton has multiple Harts and scoring trophies. Brutal in the playoffs but he gets in. Chara has a couple of Norris trophies and some high placements. He’s got a cup. He’s in.

The best part of this season is watching Ovechkin still bringing it at 39. Inexplicably, it's now entirely possible he overtakes Gretzky this season. We're watching a legend.

Thinking of picking either him or Strome (or McMichael?) for my fantasy team. Think I'm going to go Strome because of the assists total he'll accumulate.

While I don't think their play is sustainable, Noesen and Cotter have been phenomenal for the Devils. Sherwood has also been great for the Cancuks. These were the types of players we should have targeted in the offseason.

Logic would dictate that Jiricek is the one to be sent down to the AHL, given he is waivers exempt. With Jiricek being vocal about his lack of opportunities last year, will the CBJ do it? Another interesting situation to keep an eye on.​

I'm not sure why WPG has been unable to put it together but I'm glad they didn't punt and 'rebuild' and tried to keep at it.

They had no reason to rebuild. Their annual entry into the playoffs is the culmination of their build.
They went 7 years without being in the playoffs, as did Toronto. Edmonton missed the playoffs 10 consecutive years, and 12 times in 13 years.

Why would you rebuild when you're winning? When you're winning you make adjustements to go further into the playoffs. We are rebuilding cause the team sucked and had no core outside of Suzuki and Caufield after Price and Weber LTIRetired and also no assets to improve the team and some terible contracts.

Yeah, he can play both sides & move the puck. I'm not sure where he would fit, though.

I think he and Sheterskin are probably the best goalies in the game right now. I can’t figure out why he’s been Joe Thorton in the playoffs but I have to think he turns it around. I thought they’d go on a run last year but…

Anyway, the one thing I did not like was that he seems to throw his teammates under the bus after that series. He talked about how great he played but couldn’t see have the pucks that went in.

Definitely a shot at his D. That kind of “not my fault” comment worries me a little. You expect the guy to come out and take responsibility even when it’s not his fault. That’s what leaders do. Those comments give the impression of a ‘me first’ type guy.

I know this kind of thing tends to get scoffed at but to don't "suddenly" find the fountain of youth at 39. Me thinks it's not impossible some magic beans are involved. Probably say something like my doctor put me on TRT...
