I was at the Sens game last night. He was very good, but the whole team played extremely well. Green has them playing a tight system and everyone is buying in defensively. They picked up veterans that changes their bottom 6, like Amado and Gregor. They added Jensen who stabilized Chabot, who's playing very well this year. Their second line would be our first and Norris makes plays at both ends. They also added Ullmark, who didn't play yesterday. They made moves to be in the mix.
And you mentioned Travis Green, an experienced coach

Sens fans weren't happy about his hiring, but he's been fantastic. He's payed his dues, starting from the WHL, head coach for four years in the AHL and learned from his years with the Canucks.
Yep experience is something most experienced GM's look for when hiring a coach.

I'm still in shock Seattle destroyed this team so easily. They lack skill. They have a lot of useful players we could use like Larsson, Montour, Tanev, Stephenson... But it's an MB type team with #attitude# and not much else. Also, Shane Wright sucks. He's literally useless out there right now. Skates up and down to lose the puck and has no idea what to do defensively. I have no f***ing clue how this guy got compared to players like Bergeron.

Montembeault was really, really bad. Seattle didn't outplay Montreal. It wasn't a typical 8-2 game. Montembeault gave up just an awful 5th goal & the team gave up.

Daccord is from the area or something, had family in the stands and played extremely well, too.

Toronto got doubled up by Blues yesterday 4-2. Now down 1-0 to Minnesota in 1st while getting outshot 10-3. Yikes.
Berube is the wrong coach for the Leafs. The Leafs are a stack of high scoring finesse players, especially the forwards, and Berube wants to to turn them, into "Tom WIlson" bangers. OK for the defense, but not the forwards. The forwards are very good and they can score a lot, but Berube is turning them away from what they do best and how they do it. Expect a revolt soon.

I've only watched one Leafs game this year (game 1 vs Habs) but it's likely gonna be tough for the Leafs to play Berube's more rougher in your face style hockey when they still have the soft flyby core 4 leading that team.

Classic case of complacency and plateauing early. The word around the 2022 draft was that he really got drilled in his interviews about him not going overseas to play in his D-1 season (he stayed home and didn't play). He was a force in his D-2 season. By the time he came back for his D-0 season, the damage was done and he hid behind the excuse that he was in the same mold as Bergeron.

It's too early to make a final judgment on Wright. I wish Wright well, I think he has the tools to be an effective NHLer, but maybe not a play-driving 1st line center. The tag of exceptional status set an unrealistic expectation that he might not be able to live up to.

There were definitely a lot of red flags, though some posters would call them conspiracy theories and ask for multiple double verified sources before even entertaining the idea he could have had any.

The Bergeron comparisons were insane though, with hindsight. Not only does Wright not have anywhere near the defensive acumen, Bergeron was relentless, even at 18. A real puck hound with high IQ.

I remember finding his level of play to be suspect at the beginning of his D-0 season. The word was he injured his foot. As the season went on, nothing assuaged my concerns.
