So it’s Torts’ fault that the “generational talent” is nothing more than a glorified cherry picker?
He’s their 2nd leading scorer. Maybe Torts should try to actually coach him by communicating and taking 1 on 1 time with him.

Michkov requires a translator, he doesn't speak English from what I understand.
Okay? Then have a translator with him and Torts. The point remains that there really isn’t justification for healthy scratching your 2nd leading scorer, who is 20 years old, when you’re a rebuilding team. Look at some of the other bums on the team like Laughton and Foerster.

The "talk" probably happened prior to the healthy scratching, since Michboy got benched in his last 2~3 games. Tors doesn't have the longest fuse with guys who don't get the memo.

Anaheim purposely scratched Carlsson multiple games last season and I didn't see any complaints about it. But Flyers do it and Michkov is a bust and Torts can't coach anymore?

If this becomes a constant, then yes that becomes a problem, but sometimes it's good to just take a few days break, settle in and go back to playing the next game.

Which would be fine on a team that is trying to compete for the playoffs. All I’m saying is that it’s odd that he’s their coach of choice. When I think of Torts, I don’t think of how he’s good for young players.

I'm not a fan of the guy but there is a nonzero chance that Michkov will kick out his bad habits if he is coached by someone unwilling to give him rope on certain things. If not, well then... it's going to be quite the shit show in Philly.

Different framing of the situation. Carlsson was framed as load management coupled with more time to train at the gym, to add to his massive frame.

IMO Michkov will (should?) be fine.

He's not my choice for who I'd want coaching a young team. MSL would disagree though... He owes his career to Torts who gave him the opportunity.

I guess you have to have the openness to want to change your habits. That’s why Slafkovsky was a great choice at 1st overall, his willingness to work on things and his acceptance that it will be a process and that he’s long from being a finished product. Maybe this is the reason why the team had no interest in Michkov.

Ana never “scratched” him - it was reported Verbeek and his agent had a load management plan in place before the season even started as to when he’d be rested & when he’d play

That’s what I’m suspecting as well, and Bobrov & cie came to the conclusion Demigod actually “knows how to play hockey” as Torts would say

I'm pretty sure they had multiples talks already.
